What is with all the news report leads saying "Tracy Morgan Screams for Help After Crash"? Wouldn't anybody scream if they were conscious? That's uncalled for, insensitive, especially for the families. It could have been worded differently. Jeekers! Headlines just don't have a filter any more, I guess. All flash and sensationalism.

The truck driver is being charged with one count of vehicular manslaughter (for the man who died) and several charges of assault on the surviving crash victims (including Tracy Morgan). A reporter from NBC 4 in New York posted on Twitter: From the picture of the criminal complaint, it looks like the truck driver didn't sleep for more than 24 hours before the crash.

So sad. I feel for the driver, yet, yeah ... the devastation. Something like this happened right in front of my house about 10 years ago. A driver fell asleep and killed two high school kids stopped at a red light. I went out to see what was happening and can never erase the image of those kids on stretchers. That could have been my kids.
Anyway, I hope this doesn't push Tracy into a dark place. He's got a young child, so hopefully that will get him through emotionally after the physical healing. He actually sounds pretty good - no internal injuries or head injuries.

It's really common for truck drivers to not sleep for 24, 48 hours, or more when trucking a shipment from one point to another. It's bullshit, but the companies aren't paying for hotels, and they often ask them to deliver on nearly impossible schedules. Heck, most truckers completely own their rig and pay for gas, too. I've met a few folks who make their money that way. It's a very interesting/weird career path.

Isn't that why there's a sleeping compartment in the cab and truck stops where people can go to eat and shower? Maybe this accident will get people mad and look into doing something about this.

Although I generally do get most of my news from "brobible.com", I thought I'd double check to see if there was a more reputable source, but all I could find was Fox News saying the same thing, so I'll guess we'll have to wait and see.
