Never thought of it that way...Kanye needs fame. Kanye needs a family. Of course he's going to partner with someone who is both famous and has a famous family. Suddenly the pairing makes a little more sense (besides the fact that Kanye is crazy.)

Oh he's definitely obsessed with how he & Kim are perceived and how famous they are. He has to drag Kim and her family up from the D list to be worthy of him. The whole focus of his comments about the wedding are about the venue not being up to par and who was sitting where. So you know he was really focused on the important stuff......
And as for the comments about wanting his kid to have a normal life, he named her North!!! What "normal" life does he expect with a name like that.

Maybe he expects her to live a nice normal life in Seattle.

That GQ interview was typical Kanye. A lot of grandiosity and offensive bullshit with some kernels of truth, thoughtfulness and sadness in between.

I know I'll be ex-communicated from this place for saying this but I think that he looks completely stylish and attractive in this GQ spread. Now as for what he said in the interview...hmmmm. The comparing the plight of the overexposed celebrity to the Black Civil Rights Movement is an obviously ridiculous statement. But I won't entirely dismiss the racialized element to the creative class system. He's been so inarticulate with his point about this that it's really easy to ignore it as more of his delusional ridiculousness. But I think that it opens up a fascinating conversation about race & art. I even think there's validity found in the topic right on these very boards. Kanye marries a celebrity with a poor reputation and even his status as an A-list musician is called into question. And I can't help but think that the type of musician (hip-hop) he is makes it easier to dismiss his contributions to the music world. Chris Martin's also married to a celebrity a lot of people dislike for a lot of reasons yet no one is claiming he isn't an A-list musician. Even if someone doesn't like Coldplay they recognize the band's success, and yes, A-list status.

I 'liked' this post but I wanted to be clear that I also love it and agree with it completely, especially with the part I bolded. He is his own worst enemy and I hate that he drowns out the really good points he makes by surrounding them with so much inanity.

TC: I have a soft spot for Kanye that has been tested by the Kim relationship, but I am now questioning my sanity because I understand what he is trying to say in a lot of that article.

She can stay, Brookie, as long as she buys a Michael Kors bag and Christian Louboutin shoes! :-)
(I'd better watch it....I might get banned, too)
ETA. Why am I always at the top of the page with my stupid sk remarks? I swear, never my insightful musing, always the na-ner-na-ner out of left field comments.
