The donation is well-intentioned, certainly, but I don't think it's particularly thoughtful because of how dumb it is. Nicki's been kind of bizarrely losing it lately and Cardi does not yet seem to have realized that her social media is not just her talking to ten of her bffs. I don't know anything about this fight but I assume they are each equally blameworthy. I don't think Nicki's been losing it at all. Her album didn't have any hits leading up to its release, they spent a ton of money on the videos and performances, and they pushed it back 2 or 3 times. I think she has just been pulling stunts to get as much press as she can. The donation to Geoffrey Owens sounds like just another in a long list of stunts she's pulled over the last several weeks. The Travis Scott mess was a stunt (which he was smart enough not to fall for) and the renewed feud with Cardi seems like a stunt that Cardi wasn't smart enough to sidestep. I think she's just been savvy enough to keep her name in the press. Also, I think we should clarify that they didn't actually physically fight. Cardi threw a shoe at Nicki and was apparently elbowed in the face when security tried to restrain her. Wanted to add that if D&G were to lend me a couture gown, they could rest easy knowing they'd get it back in one piece. ( just in case someone there is a Greecie đ) If D&G lent me a gown, I'd rip it to shreds and send it back with a note that said "Fuck you, Steffano. You cheap, ugly loser."

I like Cardi B and her music. Some of her shenanigans/feuds are a bit much, but look at 1990s Madonna and Courtney Love. I think most of it is for show, especially where Nicki is involved.
Also, I think the idea that Cardi isnât worthy of her own thread is a little ridiculous... sheâs been big for a year now and is only getting bigger. I donât see her going away anytime soon.

I think this broad is just dumb. I'm not someone who reflexively thinks if you don't have the right background or if you're not refined enough that it means you're stupid, but I think she's proven over and over again that she's a moron. She was in a relationship with a guy who constantly cheated on her. What does she do? Get pregnant by him and secretly marry him. She does this at the height of her improbably successful career, which results in her having to back out of a lucrative tour, which probably would have been the most money she's seen up to this point. She's going around town catching up on all the fights she managed to stay out of while pregnant- most of those fights appear to revolve around the cheating husband she's blowing her career over. She's being sued for at least one of those fights and asked for permission to delay being deposed because of postpartum complications. What does she do? Go to New York fashion week and tries to start a fist fight. A fist fight where she was the only one to get injured and the only one to get thrown out. By some very concrete measures she could be considered the most successful female rapper of all time. She responds to almost every barb thrown at her by her peers, even though she is in a position of superiority right now. Nicki never had her chart success and is struggling now. Azealia Banks is barely a footnote compared to her. Yet, when Cardi responded to Azealia, her response was so OTT and embarrassing that Cardi ended up shutting down her own social media accounts. Most other rappers use beefs to promote their careers, she just pops off on instagram or at some high profile event and ends up the only one being embarrassed or physically hurt.

Most other rappers use beefs to promote their careers, she just pops off on instagram or at some high profile event and ends up the only one being embarrassed or physically hurt. Let's not forget her posting her banking information on Instagram to prove to haters she paid cash for two Lamborghinis, and she doesn't even have a license to drive. And the videos she posted of what looked like Offset fingering her once she hit 6 weeks post delivery. I can't with her. I feel like Tyra--"We were all ROOTING FOR YOU!! How dare you!" At first I found her refreshing. She was humble and honest about her roots. She was definitely unrefined, but she was scrappy, and diligent in pursuing her dream. She finally made it, and she goes and does the same hood-booger shit she'd be doing in the Bronx if she hadn't made it. ARGH! I hope she has someone like an agent or manager to sit her down and tell her the truth. The hard truth. It's all fun and games until you end up in prison. Street cred will do wonders for your hood legacy, but it will erase your career if you're a woman. Just ask Remy and Lil Kim. I doubt she'll be asked back to the best parties next year. No more Alexa commercials. Will Jimmy Fallon have her back on to try and laugh off the knot on her forehead? Doubtful. I could be wrong. Maybe Team Cardi can spin this era into gold. But I predict a release of baby pics to rehabilitate some of the damage. She needs an intervention, ASAP.

Nah I wasn't rooting for her. I watched Love and Hip Hop. She was a violent ass there, picking fights and throwing hands at innocent people. Nicki is doing a lot right now but she is infinitely more talented than Cardi. Cardi is a novelty rapper, people give her a lot because she's endearing apparently. Nor to me. I hope she's saving some money. Like it or not she is nowhere near as talented as Nicki and I'd be shocked if her career lasts even another 5 years.

She had hit the 10 year mark on her career I didn't realize Nicki's been in the game that long. Respect. She has been having a public nervous breakdown for over a month Nicki probably feels she has a lot to prove. She's been through some things in the past few years, especially with the publicized criminal trial of her younger brother. She was a sidecar in the Drake/Meek Mill beef. Remy Ma eviscerated her, and now Cardi B is nipping at her heels. Why do these ladies have to fight? There is room in the industry for both. Back in the day Lil Kim and Foxy Brown beefed with each other instead of teaming up.

Ugh, the only reason Cardi B is anywhere is because she's "red" light skinned. If she were brown skinned, she would not be as successful, and I couldn't stand her on Love and Hip Hop.

Missy Elliott was fat, very dark skinned, and not "traditionally pretty" at the height of her career, and she had a very solid run of hits. Billboard magazine has mentioned that Missy is the biggest selling female rapper since Nielsen started tabulating the charts.

Two things aren't being acknowledged: The rap industry is even more image focused - The only way a female rapper can break into the industry now is to have a shitload of fake looking plastic surgery. They will only promote light skinned, small framed women who have giant fake breasts and over-inflated asses AKA the stripper look. Natural looking women like Missy and Queen Latifah's size wouldn't stand a chance in today's industry. There's self-hatred - Between hatred of dark skinned women in songs and interviews, male producers/head of record labels stating 'black (American ) girls don't sell', the only female rappers who receive promotion are Afro-Latina, Caribbean, biracial. When was the last time you've seen a black American rapper?
