I'm with Nicki on this one. When she made her remarks, the names Taylor or Miley did not come out of her mouth. She wasn't talking about either of them, yet they felt the need to police Nicki's feelings, what she should have said, AND how she should have said it. Why jump in a situation that had nothing to do with them personally? I'm glad that Nicki cussed Miley out. She was lucky that she wasn't close enough to have the moon man thrown at her head.
Folk stay telling black people to be polite and nice. Eff that when you jump into another person's conversation. This is an epic example of "mind your own business."

That's the whole thing for me. 2 white women telling a black woman how she should react to what she perceives as racism. That's what pisses me off. Stay in your own damn lanes, Miley & Taylor. When they can say they've experienced a tenth of what any black person has experienced, then I'll hear their comments about racism. Until then, keep your vaulted opinions to yourself.

Anybody in the music industry. Nobody in particular. What Nicki was talking about is how black women artists aren't celebrated like white ones, which is true. She has every right to say that. If Taylor and Miley had nothing to do with that situation; if they were not the ones who sat down with the PTB and said "Don't give Nicki that nomination.", then what are they speaking on it for? Why did Miley spend an entire interview bashing Nicki for not being polite about her own opinion? Mind. Your. Own. Business. Or as we like to say in da hood, "Don't come for me unless I send for you." Oh wait! Here's another hoodism: "Keep my name out of your mouth." That way you won't have a black woman asking you "what's good?", which is a prelude to an a round of "Getting that ass whooped".

That's the thing, Nicki, whether she was calling out Taylor specifically or not, didn't say a name. She made a very generalized comment that could have been about anybody or nobody in particular. But what followed was Taylor taking it personally, Katy Perry jumping in to pile onto Taylor and Miley saying "well she's not being nice".
The thing is though, Nicki has no reason to be nice. I'm saying this as a very white chick, who generally couldn't care less about any of these people (and I'm sorry Nicki, but really, I'm not a fan of "Anaconda"), but it looked to me like three white women completely missing the point of what a woman of color was trying to say about racism still being present in the music industry today. Taylor took it as a personal attack on herself, Katy used it as a chance to attack Taylor while "supporting" Nicki, and Miley stressed about how "nice" you need to be. Nicki wasn't wrong.
Also as a general aside, Miley, shut the fuck up about having to be nice. Women in general keep getting told "to be nice" and you know what? To hell with that.
I have now spent far too much time thinking about pop star feuds that make me believe we never completely graduate from high school.

I'm not condoning violence at all, but it would have been something if Nicki had run up on Miley on stage (with TPTB not allowing her to get in any physical hits).

Aren't we as women (I know I am especially as a BWOC) sick and tired of being nice while simultaneously being screwed over by society?

Could someone please use "what's good" in context? I am a middle-aged, Canadian, white woman - this expression is foreign to me and I wish to learn more. Thank you.
