I couldn't help but wonder if they did it slightly on purpose, especially, as I said, even the music seemed particularly Fringe-ish in that one scene. I prefer to think they did it as a nod to the fandom.

If Orlando had anything to do with it, they sure did.

I still can't believe how this show has sucked me in.

FRANKLINSTEIN'S MONSTER!!!! I just can't!! This show is too much! It struck me around the time that they were figuring out some booby trap to open a door (to find the Franklinstein monster) that this show has this really awesome Raiders of the Lost Ark feel to it. Just enough intrigue and mystery leading the heroes into dark places full of booby traps and creepy crawlies. If Ichabod and Abbie get chased by a giant bolder at some point I won't be the least surprised. And I love it!!
The Katrina bits bore me to tears though. This woman spends more time tied to a chair than Sam Winchester! And her melodramatic Harlequin Romance inspired dialogue make her painstakingly out of place in a world where other females have paramilitary combat training and aren't the least bit afraid to use it. I thought she was/is a high powered witch- but so far she's more useless than the Charmed girls without their Book of Shadows- and even more annoying! I reckon they won't kill her off, but maybe if she turned evil or something Ichabod could quit pining over her already, let Bram have her and get to work saving the world. Someone up thread mentions she's Ichabod's weakness- which is true- But she also seems to be the Headless Horseman's weakness which makes him a pretty dumb bad guy. Moloch better Latinate him back in line!
I dig Henry as a bad guy because I love all his little evil gadgets and sneaky ways... though I'm horrified that his evil gadgets and sneaky ways have further imperiled Capt. Irving!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!! And I don't know what the rules are for him signing a contract in blood but not knowing what he was actually doing. Legally, that contract would be null and void. But these are Moloch's Rules of Order we're playing by here- and so I don't know what that means for Irving's fate. Beyond if Katrina actually has any real witch mojo in her beyond running around in a pettycoat and bleating out 'I'll never submit to you willingly!!!' she better make herself useful for once and fix it!
I'm digging the Benjamin Franklin flashbacks and his contributions to the cause- even if he worked Ichabod's last nerve. I hope he keeps popping up. Him and his monster pal! LOL!
And I didn't see anyone else mention this here or anywhere else in the internets- but when Ichabod was reciting the spell he was totally spouting off Metallica lyrics! BWAH!!! Although, I think the lyrics ultimately came from when the Metallica guys were reading lots of HP Lovecraft and writing songs accordingly- so it probably really came from Lovecraft... but still BWAH!!!
p.p.s I love the font they use whenever they have subtitles. At first I thought it was only when Moloch spoke- but they had the same font for Ichabod's Metallica/Lovecraft spell.

Tonight, an evil Pied Piper. Should be fun. Eh, I think it was an evil coin that was originally the silver that Judas was paid for snitching on Jesus. But nevertheless, still a good episode and I'm glad they were able to get wind that Henry is the lawyer. But I'm SO not cool with Reyes the new Chief. She fired on that poor bank employee too quickly and even if she had a gun, I don't think she should have been shooting her as she walks onto the scene. *shrug* The antiquities guy is cute, so he'll be a new go-to for them? That should be helpful given he won't be followed by Reyes and he's off everyone else's radar. Glad he was able to get Crane some much needed ID.

I can't believe that Crane made a Glee reference.

I can't believe that Crane made a Glee reference. I loved this, too! And YAY for Revolutionary figures not giving a crap about how people live their life, but was more concerned about them wearing a hat inside.

As forward thinking as Crane is- I love the things he gets indignant over: Guys wearing hats indoors, pens chained down to bank desks, at first women wearing trousers- though he seems to have gotten over that pretty quickly. I also LOVE that he apparently bumped elbows with just about every historical figure possible. Yes, of course he looked Benedict Arnold in the eye and saw the toll his betrayal had taken on his soul... Of course he did! He also hung out with Samuel Adams and knows he looks nothing like Paul Revere, was George Washington's most trusted aide and he got an eyeful of Benjamin Franklin's naughty bits (And yet, Thomas Jefferson must have made Sally Hemmings hide under the bed any time Ichabod came to visit- since that bit o' history managed to escape his knowledge)
I mean, I miss dialogue sometimes I'm laughing so hard everytime Crane casually mentions some historical figure he encountered. That said, I don't think I want my godsons watching this show. I don't want them turning in essays about how Benedict Arnold betrayed his country after touching one of Judas's coins or that the Boston Tea Party was just a cover for a top secret military retrieval mission.
All the suspicions I held early on about Capt. Irving really being a baddie I now transfer to Capt. Reyes. Esp. considering her involvement in the Mills sisters' past. Did Moloch have foreknowledge of Abbie being a Witness and so tried to mess her sh*t up early on? Was her mother the real Witness and Abbie inherited that title after her mother (allegedly) killed herself? Would Jenny be a Witness if anything (NO! PLEASE NO!) were to happen to Abbie? So many things to be revealed. I'm sure Capt. Reyes will turn out to be Super!evil at some point- Like the Bride of Moloch or some such. I don't trust her one little bit!
I don't know what Henry has planned for Capt. Irving- but so far that hasn't seemed to come into play. It was silly of him to use the name Henry Parrish whilst posing as a lawyuh- since now Crane and Abbie got his number, hussy! - But as far as Irving is concerned, the damage is done. He's signed something in blood. What's going to come of that- I don't know. But I'll be hiding under the bed with Sally Hemmings and biting my nails until we find out, that's for sure!
Much less Katrina. YAY! But wait, she was trying to get Bram to trust her in order to listen in on his secret plans... but now she's openly taunting him that the Horseman Of War is her son and therefore likes her better and will eventually turn on him? Ummmm... way to win Bram's trust, dumbass witch lady! Please do something useful at some point. P.S. Your husband has more time to watch GLEE than to plot your rescue! Sucks to be you, Katrina!!
