But.. Mick Jagger is ugly-sexy. Clay is just ugly. Well, depending on what you're predisposed to be attracted to. Most people like the rock star thing....it IS sexy. But these people operate on a whooooole other plane of reality. I think the nonthreatening Christian boy aspect (which I personally find absolutely unsexy) is their Mick Jagger turn on. Yes, that's what I meant, not that they're afraid of sex but it's just that Clay seems non threatening, like someone who'd be afraid to kiss you and you can just hold hands or something.

According to, well, fifth-hand information: besides charisma, Mick has lady-pleasing talents that far surpass his looks (if you get my drift). I cannot possibly imagine that Clay has the same talents (for either gender).

I tend to think the worst of celebrities, but honestly, it seems plausible to me that Clay really did come out because of the baby. It's one thing to live a lie when it's just you; it's quite another thing to live a lie when you've got a kid who looks up to you.
I don't get the Clay love but I don't get the Clay hate either. He just seems kind of dull to me.

Yes, that's what I meant, not that they're afraid of sex but it's just that Clay seems non threatening, like someone who'd be afraid to kiss you and you can just hold hands or something. That's probably all true. Like, for all we know Clay's life (like Liberace's evidently) could be some decadent round-the-clock gay orgy. But it doesn't matter, because as far as heterosexual desire is concerned, he doesn't seem to be projecting animal lust towards any of his female fans. They actually prefer it that way. They don't want him to be projecting salaciousness and lustfulness towards them. He's the anti-Mick Jagger, in a way. Jagger could hardly look at a woman without wondering what she'd be like in bed. But for these people, they just want their idol to be "nice" and "decent" and "boyish". It's the female equivalent, probably, of the Christian man who can't fantasize about a girl or feel attracted to her unless he thinks she's a virgin, unless he can perceive her as being as pure as the driven snow.

Aren't some of his fans married older women with kids? That's the part that confuses me.
I guess if it were teenagers who have never had sex adoring him I might get it (although I figure a teenager would be more likely to look at a Growing Pains version of Leonardo DiCaprio than Clay Aiken) but some of these women don't seem inexperienced.
Though, in general, I do get the basic point about his non-threatningness. Although even when I was a kid I would have found Clay pretty creepy to look at. I think my idea of cute at that time would have probably been someone like Leonardo Dicaprio before he became manly looking or Orlando Bloom. They look pretty non-threatening without giving me the creeps.

Doesn't surprise me. Most of those American Idol people didn't have career legs.

When I saw this thread near the top, I was convinced some unspeakable horror had happened to Clay. Then I read the latest. I guess, good for him? Maybe not so good for others.
