While I walked away from the show finding Caitlyn the least likable character on it, I do have a real life example of the show helping.
I had dinner with my Tea Party-loving parents today, and my stepmother mentioned that one of her employees came out as Trans a couple weeks ago. She said the employee wrote a lovely email to everyone telling them that come Monday, she was presenting as a woman, here's her new name, please use female pronouns, and talked about how she struggled with it for years. That lead to my stepmother talking about Caitlyn, and the show was clearly an education for her. Not that my stepmother would have been terrible to her employee - she's too nice and too professional for that - but there probably would have been talk about how "confused" this person is. Instead she was very accepting and never once in the conversation slipped into using male pronouns or her former male name.
My stepmother probably digs Caitlyn for her wardrobe and her politics, but her show also taught my stepmother enough to handle her employee's transition gracefully.

That's fantastic, kostgard. I wish the show could have enlightened my Southern republican father in the same way. While she might not be a wonderful human, I have no doubt that Caitlyn Jenner is doing good in the world just by existing.

I still don't like her but I'm glad the show has had some positive effect.

"I Am Cait" was renewed for a second season because of course it was. This family wouldn't know what to do with themselves if there wasn't a camera crew present at all times.

Oh, but I thought this was a one time miniseries, and then Caitlyn was bowing out of the spotlight?
Pfft.

I liked Bette Midler's tweet on Caitlyn:

Rose McGowan has some words for her too:
Then, of course, she had to make another statement saying she's not transphobic:

It is getting to the point where you can't criticize her at all publicly without being accused of being transphobic.
