I don't know, but there's no mention of Josh going anywhere as of now. Gothardism is a cult pretending to be a religion. So criticizing the Duggars doesn't necessarily fall under the category of attacking a religion. They are NOT Baptists. That is a myth that has been propagated by Jim Bob and Michelle with TLC's help in order to broaden the fanbase and bring in more money. Aside from all of that, I see nothing wrong with attacking any religion that engages in the subjugation and isolation of girls and women or that promotes discrimination and hatred, as Gothardism does. ETA: Here is an episode of 17 Kids and Counting that follows the Duggars on one of their mission trips.

I read a Facebook link this afternoon that said Jill is leaving the country to avoid testifying in any depositions or upcoming court hearings or trials involving Josh.

Religion - any religion - is an idea and is subject to scrutiny and criticism just like any other idea. It should get no special protection from "attack" than any other idea. If it can't stand up to criticism on its own merits in the free marketplace of ideas, then too damn bad.

I'm not at all saying religion can't be criticised. I criticise their religion. I did in my initial post. My point was, that Josh's molesting children is a horrible thing in its own right. It reflects on Josh, his awful negligent parents, and the corrupt judicial system in the state of Arkansas. Criticising Gothardism, isn't a proxy for being pissed off that these people get away with child molestation. And I hate how the two are being conflated. TLC was right. The whole thing will blow over and people will keep watching because they (inexplicably) are charmed by this wacky-yet-relatable-and-somehow-aspirational family, especially the cute girls and weddings and babies, or else they hatewatch so they can feel superior, and any outrage about a man who molested prepubescent children and the community that covered it up is just one more part of the show.
And I hate that. I know I keep saying this, but it's like with Jerry Sandusky. Some things are so horrible, so wrong, that there are no aggrevating or mitigating factors.

I want Jim Bob & Bill Cosby to wind up in the same cell. They can be insufferable and pontificate each other to death.

The only non-forced parts of that video were Jackson trying to play with Israel and Joy clinging to Jill. It looks like Jennifer's tie to her sister-mom has been cut, but not Joy's.

Yes, multiple sexual assaults are horrible in their own right, but Gothardism certainly made things much worse. It is a religion that teaches that boys are valuable and girls are garbage and it set the stage not only for making it easier for the attacks to happen, but easier to cover up, easier to shut down and shame the victims into silence, and easier for Josh to escape genuine punishment. It deserves to be fully criticized in the context of Josh's crimes since it is a major factor in how the events played out, as well as Josh's sick sense of entitlement that led him to think he had a right to violate his sisters' bodies in the first place. Jim Bob and FriendsI never heard of this guy, but a quick read of his wiki page makes it clear he's fucking nuts. Like, completely fucking nuts. I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near my family. Here's part of an episode of 18 Kids and Counting where the Duggars visit one of those creation museums that's run by another nutcase with the same ideas about creationism as Jim Bob's buddy. Jana had a spark of logic for a second there, but quickly disregarded it in favor of the nonsense she was force fed from birth. Children are naturally inquisitive and thoughtful, and it's pretty sad to see those qualities taken away from them.

I live in Pensacola, Hovind's hometown. He never read the "render unto Caesar" passage from the Bible.

After seeing the ranting about Obamacare from an acquaintance yesterday, I'm not sure many of them have read the "render unto Caesar" bit. But then, I've also seen multiple contradictory interpretations of it. *sigh*
But when other Young Earth Creationists are calling you out for using outdated arguments ... No, I'm sorry, they're all loonies.
