Did Christie cheat on Billy Joel with Rich? When the helicopter accident happen it seem Billy Joel and Christie had a quick divorce after this accident, she married Rich, she had the little boy, 2 months after the baby was born, Rich was out the door. Rich told Christie he was very rich only it turn out he was poor, and he spent her money.

One of my sister's art professor in college was Christie's first husband-I'm too lazy to Google his name right now. The guy is pretty well-known-I believe he is French. Apparently he would talk about her in class. My sister said, "He clearly still has a thing for her."
Just my little 26 degrees of separation. Carry on.

Didn't he write that "I Love You Just the Way You Are" song about Christie? I always thought that "don't want clever conversation" line was totally insulting. Basically he's saying, "You're stupid, but I'm not interested in hearing you talk anyway."

No, that song was on The Stranger which was from '77 or '78, I think, well before hooking up with Christie.
I'm not saying that Billy hasn't written songs angry or hostile toward women, but the next line is "I never want to work that hard," which implies to me that he doesn't want to try to be clever.

He doesn't want clever conversation. Awesome. That line has ALWAYS driven me nuts. And I'm from Long Island, by the way. He needs to get off the roads and stop endangering my parents' lives with his drunk driving.

Yeah, real gem, huh? Billy seemed/seems like a sullen angry guy. I saw an article some moons back about him being the "angriest guy in rock." It couldn't have been fun being married to him, but I guess that's more for his thread if there is one.
As for Christie, I thought her painting for the River of Dreams cover was quite good.

There's that old Joan Rivers' joke about this "Billy Joel writes 'Just the Way You Are' for his first wife, then dumps her to marry Christie Brinkley."
I don't think that's exactly how it went down, but it still made me chuckle.

I've never thought she was that gorgeous. She is very "blah" to me.
I find her somewhat annoying as I have read articles where she brags that she has never been super-skinny and never lost weight to be a model. That's true, and I'm glad she isn't a lollipop, but on the other hand, she is fooling herself if she thinks she was under the same kind of pressure circa 1985 that models of today are. When Christie was popular, you didn't have to be 105 pounds to be a model. It's different now, but she's too busy patting herself on the back to realize that.
Her third husband does sound like a total slime. Giving up parental rights for two million dollars-what an asshole. Maybe he should go hook up with Debbie Rowe. They clearly have a lot in common.

Give me a break. Little Miss Just Graduated knew she shouldn't be fucking around with a married man. Just say no, honey.
