I didn't realize she fired her publicist. Perhaps she did feel undue pressure or felt she was tricked into the shoot. I still think the story as it is smacks of spin but I have never gotten a "bitchy" or entitled vibe from her at all. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and comes across as extremely professional at the very least and I cannot see her simply being a diva because she can. My guess is that she had a good reason for leaving shoot (the photoshoot wasn't what she thought it was going to be in one way or another) and that the nudity reason is being put forth because it makes her sound like she is willing to stand up for herself instead of sounding like she is entitled or something.
On a more positive note - she looks gorgeous in previews for The Family Stone. Simply gorgeous. I like her a lot with the dark hair.

Knowing Vanity Fair, they may have been doing one of those "bunch of naked starlets intertwined...tastefully" things.

I agree that she looks best with darker hair. I loved her hair color in Red Eye and the Family Stone previews.

Cant believe she actually fired her publicist... I mean she is pretty and cute and charismatic and she clearly has talent too yet she managed not to court the irritation of 99% of the posters here who are generally snarking on every next young thing... a true feat if you ask me... and while she may truly be a real non-annoying person, I still think that whoever is behind her has played a key role in this... Will check back on this thread in 6 months...

I don't know, if my publicist had set up a photoshoot for me on an internationally famous magazine and had forgotten to mention that it was a nude scene , I would fire them too. Of course in hollyweird folks fire their publicists about as often as some people change shoes. This could be an excuse for getting rid of someone who is no longer getting the job done. I must admit that usually it is the agent after a string of flops that of course the star had nothing to do with. I am looking forward to seeing Ms. McAdams in The Family Stone as she brings the cute factor in spades!

Since I have no idea who she is and really only know her now because of the "firing the publicist" thing over Vanity Fair nudity. It seems to me she's already doing a better job publicizing herself than her publicist did.

To be fair, her publicist might not have had a clue about it either since the issue was being guest edited by Tom Ford and he's been a loose cannon of late. I can easily see him trying to pull one over on the actresses.
I think she was right in walking off, but shouldn't have fired her publicist. I mean, Rachel might not be a massive star yet but people actually like her which is a rare feat.

Tom Ford has spoken publicly about the issue being "all nude" several times. He wanted it to be similar to the 90's "Super Model" (Cindy, Claudia, Naomi, etc.) cover.

Now I'm really interested to see these pictures. Er.. not the Dakota Fanning ones.
