No offense to Carrie but I am surprised to read this. Every offense to Carrie (because I don't like her) if I watch the superbowl this year I now know halftime will be one long bathroom break.

I am not burning Carrie, just this is an event that has had Madonna and Michael Jackson do the halftime show in the past.

The article to which GoldenFleece linked did mention that Carrie currently featured doing the Monday Night Football theme song, so she already has ties to the NFL. She's definitely family friendly and she won't do anything risque on national TV.

Do you guys think Bruno Mars was more widely known than Carrie Underwood? For some reason, I think even if people don't pay attention to country, they probably know her name.

She is so bland. I saw her in concert and she has no stage presence or charisma. And at least when I saw her, her voice was off too. It sounded like she was just shouting the whole time. Bruno Mars, while not super famous when he did the HT show had a reputation as a brilliant performer. Carrie is just so blah.

This was the first time I actively paid any attention to him. I think Bo Bice from Carrie's season on AI had more stage presence than Carrie. Maybe they should add Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson and turn it into a mini-AI reunion. (Fox won't be broadcasting the Super Bowl, no?) I hope this works out well for her though.

I liked Bruno's show, too! But I admit, while I knew some of his songs, I didn't know much about his stage presence going into the Super Bowl, so I was sort of surprised he had been picked. But he really knocked it out of the park.
I've seen Carrie in concert, too (free tickets). It was fine, but definitely not Bruno-energy level.
