Casino Bride: Even though I adore Chris, those MadTV parodies are freaking hilarious! The thing is, a parody is actually a compliment, because the original has to be quite famous/well-known in order to be funny.
About Gwynnie...I can't see why he'd be deeply in love or excited by her. Compared to his world-changing ways (involvement in Fair Trade and Oxfam), she seems so vapid with her Estee Lauder ads and worries about her latest designer pants. I saw a video of the two of them singing together...damn, I can't locate it on youtube right now...but she is so stiff and awkward, and he's super emotional and into it, and their pairing just seems so odd. Apparently, though, Gwynnie was a huge Coldplay fan (she was listening to them while her father was sick and dying), and they met at a backstage party after one of CP's concerts.
I have seen Chris questioned about her, and God, does he ever look super uncomfortable, and quick to say he doesn't want to talk about "that". Hmmm.

Am I the only one in the world that can't stand Clocks? "Clocks" is now one of my favorites. Guess it grew on me. Because I did make fun of it in a fanfic, once. And Michael McDonald is frackin' hot, too. OMG! I listened to Radiohead when my Mom was sick and dying - does that mean I get to marry Ed O'Brien? (please say yes!)

About a year and a half ago, I saw CM with Apple walking along the bike path on the West Side Highway in NY. Apparently swome guy had been following them, and Chris had stopped to tell the guy to F'off. He sounded really pissed off; not at all soft-spoken and reticent like I imagined him to be. He was being pretty loud and really giving it to this guy. Although in that situation I can understand why anyone would get angry.
But Coldplay's music really annoys me. It's too smooth or something, and I just can't get into it.

In an interview on an Australian talk show, CM said that becoming a father has made him more protective and fierce of his privacy - so that story doesn't surprise me too much. I think it's hard for super sensitive types to be in the papps' spotlight, which is why there's hardly any tabloid coverage of him - I think he's careful to keep a low profile.
Does anyone know if he still writes MAKE TRADE FAIR, or the big equal sign on his left hand when performing? It's a really major project for him, being involved in that (didn't he travel to Ghana and Haiti to visit farmers there?)...
Oh, and Casino Bride, I'm totally rooting for you and Ed O'Brien!

LOATHE this guy and his music. What sent me over the edge were all of the pretentious interviews he did about his band being the next U2. Chris, let me count the ways in which your sad little band is not the next U2:
1. U2's Joshua Tree album is considered by many to be one of the twenty best rock albums. They have made a significant contribution to rock music. Coldplay makes whiny music that is just like music from about 25 other whiny, British bands. 2. U2's songs don't all sound the same. They are capable of experimenting with their sound. Colplay only has two categories of music: boring/whiny/slow and boring/whiny/mid-tempo. 3. Bono can actually sing unlike Chris, you pretentious doofus. 4. U2 is cool. Coldplay is fug and lame. 5. Bono married his high school sweetheart. Chris married a whiny, has-been actress.

Yes, I've heard his comparisons to U2, but I thought he meant it in jest. CM did say he wants to make the best music possible, or else there's no point in going on, and who can disagree with that intention? Whether or not it appeals to everyone is another story. X & Y ended up selling 8.5 million copies in 2005 alone, which means some people do like what Coldplay's done.
But of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion and tastes. Hey, I loved the Joshua Tree as well.

While I lurve U2, I do think "Joshua Tree" is over-rated. I mean, it falls apart after the first 4 songs. Just MHO, of course.
I listened to "Rush Of Blood" again today. Still glorious. "Warning Sign" kills me.

"The Scientist" is one of my favourite songs of all time (It's bittersweet, not depressing, to me). As is "Trouble" from their first album, Parachutes.
U2's album, War (from 1982) is super mega awesome, especially "Sunday Bloody Sunday". "Pride, In the Name of Love" is also a favourite track of mine.
Back to Chris now. If anyone has any recent interview clips, please post! Thank you...

U2 owns Coldplay.
That's all I got.
