He was kinda mean to me once, but that was when I accidentally almost mowed him down with a golf cart on the Sony lot. Those little buggers go faster than you think! I kid, of course, his was a totally appropriate response of "Watch it with that thing!" A meaner celeb would have chased me down and made sure I was fired (not kidding). Also many years ago my ex and I happened to be backstage at a concert for a breast cancer charity, and Tom and Rita were there, and my ex just walked up to him and asked "What time do The Oneders go on?" and Hanks just lost it, genuine laughter, IIRC his drink came out of his nose, and shook my ex's hand. Very warm and gracious.

I absolutely loved this tiny moment. My late MIL always considered me one of her children. It’s those small things that mean so much.

He’s just so great. He seems like an awesome dad and grandpa. I’ve probably said this before, but if any bad stuff comes out about Tom or Larry David, I’m done. I love them both so much.

i didn't get to actually meet him, but I did get on set when my best friend was an extra on That Thing You Do! Was standing by a door as the cast walked through (this is early in the movie when they're in Pittsburgh for a talent show.)
Everyone looked like they were having a fantastic time, even thought it was past 10 PM that night, in a theater in downtown Los Angeles.
I really hope he gets the nomination on Monday. He deserves it. I imagine he sometimes feels like that final scene in ABDITN.

He was robbed for Captain Philips but YAY for Tom Hanks! I’m still not over this! Tom Hanks is truly a treasure and I just can’t help but root for him whenever he’s up for an Oscar. I find it all so subjective though and really don’t understand the political landscape of Hollywood. I just remember leaving the theater for Captain Phillips thinking he’d earned another Oscar. There was no better performance that year.

I love that even with his level of fame and stature, he's so enthusiastic whenever he shows up on SNL, Graham Norton or the like. None of the "I'm too cool for this" bullshit.
