I think it's his voice that makes him sound kinda dumb. He has this slight Duh accent and it sounds like his tongue is too thick for his mouth too. In his movies, he usually alters his voice to make it sound clearer but reverts back to his normal voice in real life.
I love love LOVE Interview With the Vampire and Legends of the Fall. Late 1994 (holy shit, it's been thirteen years already?!?) was good for Brad and this movie viewer.

Mmm...I guess I'm the only one who thinks Brad seems pretty smart from reading his interviews. Whatever then! Nah, I believe that he's pretty smart, too. He was a year ahead of me in journalism school (although we were in different sequences -- he was studying advertising and I was news-editorial), and a stupid person wouldn't have made it through the program. The looks work against him when it comes to convincing people of his intelligence.

I don't think he's as DUH as some would believe. But he probably is incredibly laid back. He doesn't have a lot of charisma to me. He does seem to be a great dad though. Like a big Golden Retriever, he's mellow and good with kids.

Matt Damon told a story of how they were at an event for Ocean's 13 in an absolute throng of people. Damon and his wife were getting manhandled by security, and he was freaking out and screaming for her. And in the midst of this, Brad was taking pictures with his camera and totally ignoring the chaos. So yeah, incredibly laid back. I think you have to be to avoid going to prison for killing paparazzi.
I don't think he's a genuis, but yeah, he's totally got duh-face. I think he means well and I like him. Wasn't he one of the key people who put together that whole celebrity-telecast to raise money following 9/11? I remember hearing that and liking him for it. I could be wrong.

While I don't find him to be the sexiest man alive, he looks wicked hot in all the Ocean movies. Those are the only movies of his that I like. Meet Joe Black and is one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Pitt draws so many comparisons to Redford, which I don't really get. While both are considered beautiful men, Redford always struck me as intelligent and well-respected by Hollywood. Pitt doesn't seem to be as well-respected. Maybe that will change as he ages. Was Redford considered a light-weight in Hollywood's eyes before he moved to directing and established Sundance?

He's only a decent actor. I don't really understand all of the hype surrounding his personal life. He's handsome, but not the prize people make him out to be. The thing I find off-putting about him is that he seems to have no persona of his own. He adopts the image, sensibilities and interests of whoever happens to be his girlfriend at the time. He strikes me as an incredibly weak human being.

I don't think Brad is any kind of genius (check out the "Dumb Quotes" thread) but I think his habit of saying very little of substance may be a brilliant sort of career strategy. Despite being photographed every other day for the past 13 years, there's still something mysterious about him--like he can't really be pinned down. And the "aw shucks" routine he pulls out is coy and charming, and allows him to avoid saying things that might turn people off. You know, like how Scientology tech can treat post-partum depression.
There's a real physical resemblance there. In A River Runs Through It he looked so much like Redford sometimes it was weird. And of course that movie was actually directed by Redford so it was an easy connection for the press to make.

Tom Cruise may be Scientology-crazy and Brad may not ever win an Oscar, but Interview With a Vampire is in my Top 5 movies and I think both of them are smokin hot and captivating in it. I've been meaning to read the novel and haven't yet gotten around to it.
Re: Brad's kids, in whatever pics I see with either of the girls, Angie is usually carrying Shiloh (but sometimes has Z) and Brad is carrying Z, if she's napping or needs a ride. We all know about his love and craziness about having daughters and I think Z's the one who's, not the favorite, but definitely got Daddy wrapped around her little finger.

I think he's smarter than he appears just because I think PR and career-wise, he almost always makes the right move. You might get famous on a fluke, but I don't think you stay on the A-list for 15 years without knowing what you're doing. And even the way Angelina takes the brunt of abuse from the tabloids and much of the online world while Brad emerges largely unscathed, I think speaks to how clever he is at managing his image.
I actually associate that one with Clooney. He seems to ALWAYS bring it up. Even when he won his Oscar for god's sake.

I think he's not a genius, but he's incredibly smart when it comes to his career. He gives away very little - someone mentioned earlier that he repeats the same stories over and over again when he's promoting things, and I think this is very calculated. He's one of those actors who's mastered the art of making it seem like he's giving you personal info, without really giving anything away at all. I personally think there's a lot more to him than being the "dumb pretty boy", but that he just doesn't care enough to want to change people's perceptions.
