Although I don't really like it, I think her dress fits the theme of the gala better than any of the other celebs I've seen. But look at the top of the bodice in this closeup. The construction of the garment is unbelievably bad. It looks like it's coming apart. The sheer fabric looks like it's about to rip out where it's attached between her boobs and the seams are lumpy. Odd.

I'm going to be the (possibly lone?) voice of dissent here and voice my dislike of her. Eating disorder aside (which does not flatter her at all, she looks way older than 28 in my view), most of my dislike comes from her turning herself into *yet another* bland Hollywood clone. She used to be interested...curvy, short, dark, and acted in offbeat indies that were somewhat unique. But now I guess she's realized that the clock is ticking and, if she wants to be famous, she needs to fit the mold.
If you've always been a poser, that's one thing, but if you were at one point original and then turned yourself into what everyone says you should be knowingly and willingly just to make yourself more popular...oooh, that irks me.
Oh, and she wears fur and doesn't apologize for it. That's another strike against her in my book.

Well, if she is okay with wearing fur then my like for her goes out the window.

I'm not a fan. But she does choose a weird/different mix of rolls, and she pretty much has throughout her entire career. So at least she has that going for her despite the bland appearance changes. She basically does quirky roles (Prozac Nation, Black Snack Moan, the Opposite of Sex) mixed with little bits of more commercial fair (Speed Racer, Addam's Family, Cursed), and TV (Ally McBeal, Grey's Anatomy).
She looked so so so much better during her Buffalo 66/the Opposite of Sex Years, but I have always thought she was a terrible actress. Really fake. I read an interview were she stated that she prepared for roles about 15 minutes before stepping in front of the camera because she liked to be spontaneous. If by spontaneous she means stiff, surface, and really bland, then she's nailing it.

I'm pretty sure Christina has admitted to having an eating disorder, although I don't think she specified which. I remember some really weird interview she gave where she admitted that she yelled at her boyfriend because he used to take sips from her water bottle and that meant she couldn't track the exact amount of water she consumed each day. So, yeah, big issues.

She is just not meant to be that thin. Her face is getting that strange, big-eyed, pinched look of "am I a very old person or a tiny baby?" that Nicole Richie now has. It's creepy.

I think she looks gorgeous in that dress and it looks great from the back.
