I had not heard about this one and originally thought from the title that it was about the group Sly and the Family Stone. I know don't laugh. It looks OK from a holiday standpoint. I am interested in what Sarah Jessica Parker can do now that her TV show is caput. I admit that I have developed a crush on Rachel McAdams from The Wedding Crashers earlier this summer and she is one of the reasons I am interested in this movie. Her part doesn't look very big in this one though. I still don't get what everybody sees in Clair Danes. She is about as plain looking as yesterday's birdcage. Either way, this looks to be a safe family (older members) holiday movie that everyone can enjoy.

I can't stand Sarah Jessica Parker personally, but my combined love of Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Wilson, and Rachel McAdams is enough to override that and make me want to see it. Although it annoys me that the clumsy girl=ADORABLE cliche is apparently alive and well.

God, this looks horrible. I only have, like, six relatives in the whole world, and sometimes I feel bad about it-and then I see movies like this and I get incredibly happy about it. No catty, obnoxious family reunions for me. Hooray!
And I, too, thought it had something to do with Sly and the Family Stone. A dumb, misleading title.

I don't think the trailer was so bad. I want to see if it is possible for SJP to play someone other than Carrie Bradshaw. I also enjoy Diane Keaton in non-self hating roles a la Something's Gotta Give, so I might give it a whirl.

I saw the trailer the other day, and....it looks like ass. I'm not really a fan of anyone in the movie, least of all SJP.

Nope, won't pay to see it.
If they cast someone other than SJP, I may have considered it. But she is keeping me far away from theaters.

Apparently, SJParkers' character is not like Carrie Bradshaw in any way, shape, or form. I read an early review of the film (I'll have to try and find it) that desribes her character as an uptight career woman, and possible bigot who insults the boyfriends' gay brother and his black boyfriend. How daring, not.
Alas whatever dislike I have for SJP and Claire Danes, is overridden by the presence of Rachel McAdams, Craig T. Nelson (love him), and Luke Wilson. Don't know if I'll pay full price, but at the very least I'll probably catch it when it goes to the cheap ($2.00 theatre) in about February.

A huge part of me wants to see this just to see if my plot predictions are correct. I feel like I can tell what is going to happen in the movie from the trailer. I don't mind SJP and I am digging Luke Wilson as the slob brother. I initially thought Claire Danes was a sort of WTF choice for this movie (not for any real reasons - she just doesn't spring to mind when I think of family romantic comedies) but I think that Billy Crudup was attached to this movie once upon a time (it was going to be him in, I am guessing, the Mulroney part and Johnny Knoxville in the Luke Wilson part with Bridget Moynahan in the SJP role) so perhaps she read his script and liked it or something. Just speculation on my part. That movie obviously fell through (and thank God for that) so perhaps a lot of it was changed.
In any case, this trailer always gets a huge reaction (lots of whispering about wanting to see it and the like) whenever it plays. I am thinking this is going to do pretty well at the box office and really hurt Jennifer Aniston's Rumor Has It, which is coming out the week after.

I'll be seeing this for my 'feel good holiday film' over "Rumor Has IT". After sitting through Derailed, well, lets just say that Aniston has seen the last of my theater going cash.

After sitting through Derailed, well, lets just say that Aniston has seen the last of my theater going cash. Seriously not even Clive Owen helped me get through that mess. And as much as I love Mark Ruffalo he won't get me to see Rumor Has It. I'll be seeing this for everyone but SJP. Although I am curious to see how she is in a movie post-Carrie. I'll make sure I go with my family so my mother will pay for it. Since Wedding Crashers I'm a firm believer that a McAdams-Wilson brother duo makes up for anything, even if they are playing brother and sister.
