And we must not forget this classic:
"Heh, modern women... They've been like that all through the ages..."
It would be fun to think Wood was writing horrible dialogue purposely, for his own amusement... But unfortunately, I think he believed it was all brilliant.

I loved how when Criswell talks, he placed his palms perfectly flat on the desk in front of him, and his body was perfectly still with only his head moving, doing that little tilt-to-side-to-side thing that Brian Williams does. I also marvel at how Vampira got a waist that tiny, but I guess it was corsetting or something.

Actually, the Lugosi footage was from a shoot where Wood and Lugosi were going to make a 'horror western' called The Ghoul Goes West. The movie never took off and after Lugosi died Wood just put it into Graverobbers from Outer Space (Plan 9's original title) to add a leading man and pad out the running time. So Lugosi didn't really die during the movie, he was practically never in the movie. And we'll ignore that the house he walks out of in this 'western' was a modern-day house in suburbia with a nicely cut lawn!

This Plan 9 discussion has me wishing for a Best Bad Movies type of thread, like the one they had back at you know where.
Just a nice little place for us connoisseurs to show our appreciation for some of cinema's most sublimely ridiculous "masterpieces".

I'm going to come right out and say that I think Ed Wood was actually a good writer/director in spite of the reputation he has of being one of the worst of all time. In my opinion, the worst thing any movie can be is boring. Ed Wood's films are NEVER boring. Quite the opposite - I have always found every movie I've seen of his to be wonderfully entertaining. Sure, I laugh at the cheesiness of them, but for me, that's a big part of their charm. I always thought it'd be interesting to see what would result if the top ten directors of films today were made to make a film using Ed Wood's shoestring budget, and were told to scrape up their own casts, write their own scripts, and film on locations before the cops got there to shut them down for not having the necessary filming permits. How many of these directors would manage to come up with films that would rival Ed Wood's in terms of entertainment quality? My guess is few of them, if any, would. Count me as one person who thinks Ed Wood possessed a unique kind of genius.

Ever.' thread is the proper place for any bad movie convo. I'll bump it up and throw some of the gems I have in there for you to suffer by.

Thanks, Monster Zero, I'll take a look and probably be adding a few favorites of my own to that thread - in both the bad and "so bad they're good" (for LMAO) categories.
