New Star Trek movie in the works

I am a huge fan of Star Trek and love almost all the television shows. But I was disappointed with the last Star Trek film. Now to read they are going back once again to ST:TOS for a movie is just crazy. Who are they going to get to play the roles?

I'd rather see another ST:TNG movie, but I heard Brent Spiner thinks he's too old to play Data.

I like JJ Abrams work, so I don't have a problem with him as a director for a Star Trek movie, but I do NOT want to see a movie all about young Spock and young Kirk. No no no no no. I loved the TNG show and the cast, though the movies were somewhat lacklustre (First Contact was the best of the bunch, but that's because the borg rock). Hated Enterprise with a passion after trying very hard to like it initially.

I think they should go forward in time rather than backwards. Deal with some of the stuff set up in DS9 or Voyager even, mix and match a new crew with oldies and newbies in the roles. Going back to the Kirk days will suck imo. And I am also convinced that Shatner will want a cameo. Guess an industrial strength girdle is already on order.
