I was rooting for Julian McMahon, but I like Ioan, and at least it's not fugly Daniel Craig I saw this thread when looking for something else, and smiled a bit at the Craig comment. Back in July 2005, I definitely would have agreed, but the previews I've seen make me drool a bit for Craig's Bond. I consider myself to be a Bond purist in a small way, but Craig definitely epitomizes the man Ian Fleming wrote about: insolently attractive, almost viciously masculine and reeking of cold brutality. I think Julian McMahon is damn sexy but he would have been too pretty and effete for the role of Bond. It's slightly OT, but I thought a few of you might be interested in reading about the real "James Bond" and how his death was covered up. Topic: I think Ursula Andress was *the* most gorgeous Bond girl ever. In contrast, many of those in the 80s film were rather plain or just simply unattractive. Miriam D'Abo? Please. Kafka is more attractive! Tanya Roberts, Denise Richards, and Carey Lowell? Only slightly better, but not by much. Teri Hatcher? Blech. Maud Adams and Halle Berry, okay, they're lovely. But for the most part, and with those two exceptions, it's not really the Bond Girls who are attractive anymore so much as the Bond female villains: like Sophie Marceau, who is gorgeous, or Famke Jannsen.

I think Diana Rigg was the best Bond girl. Looks, personality, and style.

I'm watching A View To A Kill. Damn, Tanya Roberts was the lamest Bond Girl ever, and Grace Jones kicked ass. This was the first thing I ever saw Christopher Walken in, and he's always seemed slightly crazy ever since.
I loved this movie when it first came out, and parts of it -- okay, lots of it -- is so laughable now.

All around ace actor and dead ringer for Roman Polanski circa Chinatown, Mathieu Amalric, is set to play the villain in Bond 22.

That's great news, but kinda surprising after reading an article this morning that said MGM wasn't sure about funding the next movie. I'm all kinds of happy since Dame Judi is coming back as M. Love her relationship with Bond.

Hee. Yes. As one of the most recent directors noted, she is the only female in his environment whom Bond doesn't see in a sexual context. Which is interesting.
