I predict an Oscar nomination for Best Song/Original theme. It's a gorgeous song.

I saw a trailer for Skyfall. It looks in-effing-credible.

That move where he straightens his cuffs after the explosion? Panties GONE.

The Adele song is really nice, sounds like Shirley Bassey. It is modern but a nice homage to those old fashioned Bond songs.

The song will definately get an Oscar nom. They will have five nominees this year and nobody will want to pass up on the chance to have Adele singing at the Academy Awards.
Other than that, I have nothing. I have never seen a single Bond movie. Yes, I will see myself out.

Other than that, I have nothing. I have never seen a single Bond movie. Yes, I will see myself out. Hey, no shame in that! Most of the movies are dreadful, a small number are watchable if there's nothing else on, and maybe one or two (Casino Royale, maybe one other that I can't think of) hold up as truly good in the sense that they're good compared to any other movies, not just Bond flicks. They've all been hampered by the producers' insistence on avoiding an R rating. If there was ever a movie series that called for an R, it was Bond! As a result, you've got films where a woman in a bikini was supposed to be shockingly sexy in the '60s, where the action scenes felt cheesy and fake by the '70s, and the whole thing was like Benny Hill with guns by the '80s. With even the better than average Bond flicks, though, you'd be hard pressed to remember the plot an hour after you've seen them.

Based off the number of straight boomer dudes who wax rhapsodic over Ursula Andress's bikini, I'm pretty sure it *was* sexy back then.
(Also, film was still technically under the Hayes Code and the ratings system as we know it now didn't happen until '68, so having a dead golden woman was somewhat risqué.)
Moore is dreadful and his films way too comically ridiculous but, other than that, Bond is pretty awesome.
Heck, for a franchise deigned solely as pure pop escapist entertainment, it provides that pretty often IMO.

I've always watched the early ones (I'm a child of the '70s, so I started out with Roger Moore's Bond) as campy fun, but Daniel Craig's portrayal and the direction of his Bond films, I think, have really put them on a much higher level of quality.

It's really too bad that the director and crew *instantly* hated Lazenby on sight (mainly, for not being Connery) and treated him like absolute shit (i.e. making him do stunts himself because he was the new guy and didn't know he didn't have to) because my lord, he could have been something.
Doesn't keep me from finding On Her Majesty's Secret Service the postmodern Bond version of a Greek Tragedy every time I watch it though.
Vulture is listing Dame Judi as a possible contender for a supporting actress nom for Skyfall. Can not wait!
