You should totally do the midnight showing, bklynred! I watched the fourth Potter film at a midnight showing in London and it was awesome. It was all grown-ups, so there was plenty of laughter over some of the sillier lines, but it was clear that people were also fans of the books and were excited to watch the movie.
Of course, I had the reverse experience when I saw DH1 at midnight. I live in a tiny college town so there were LOTS of undergrads and high schoolers. We didn't feel like camping out so we showed up right before the movie started and ended up having to sit in the first row. That would have been fine but there was a group of kids sitting beside us who talked through the whole damn thing... and the worst of it was, they clearly hadn't read the books, so they were saying things like "is he dead?" when Dobby, you know, died. How is it that I managed to find the only teenagers in the world who haven't actually read HP? And if you haven't read the books, why the hell would you go to a midnight showing?
At least all the kids will be gone when DH2 comes out in July!

That sucks, QueenMab. My family and I saw DH1 at a midnight showing, and apart from the fact that we were exhausted even before the movie started, it was a terrific experience - the entire audience was mesmerized.
One of my favorite memories of the last book coming out was overhearing a group of teenage boys saying excitedly "Man, I can't wait to get home - I'm going to be reading all night."

My local theater is replaying all of the movies (one per week) leading up to the release of Part Two. It's Philosopher's Stone tonight and I am beyond excited! I'm hoping that I'll be able to hit all of them, especially Goblet of Fire. For some reason I missed that one in the theater.

FML!: Spoilers for DH2, with a number (20+) crucial omissions and changes. I'm still going to howl like a wounded beast throughout, but some of these are really fucking stupid and make me rage! Ugh.

Scroll down and there's a link that shows that some of them are wrong, namely the one that would seem insane to keep and made me see red!
