So I just got done watching this movie and I don't really understand it but I liked it. I thought Kate did a good job with the American accent and Jim was great. Elijah was pretty good and for once Dr. Sunken Tits didn't annoy the shit out of me. Plus I got give props to my fellow Kenosha native Mark Ruffalo. Kate will always get a lifetime pass from me for this movie. I mean, she was gonna get anyways for Heavenly Creatures and Finding Neverland, but I friggin love Clementine.

I lovelovelovelove this movie. I remember when I bought the dvd, I must have watched it 15 times that weekend. It is one of theose movies, that every time I watch it, I discover something I had missed before. ANd normally Jim Carrey annoys the shit out of me, but I thought he was robbed of a Best Actor nod for this film. And the editor and Michel Gondry and the film itself.

BEST MOVIE EVER!!! I think I have recommended this movie to everyone that I know. I think this is one of Jim Carrey's best performances, and Kate W. was amazing as always. Michel Gondry should make more movies. He could give hollywood the creative kick in the ass it so desperately needs!

I didn't love this movie. Sure, I can acknowlege the originality of the plot/good acting/good dialogue, but somehow it left me cold. I think a review from the NY Times or Post summed it up best for me: "a movie you will admire (respect?) without loving it." It just didn't seem to have any heart in it for me. And personally, while I like Kate Winslet and agree she acted well in this part, I found the character Clementine to be annoying. Well, Joel was annoying too. Maybe it was that I didn't buy into the characters. Anyway, I realize I am in the minority on this opinion.

I enjoyed this movie. And I thought that Charles Kaufman's Adaptation, especially the last half of it, was the biggest piece of tripe since they stopped killing Wooley Mammoths and gutting them.
Kate Winslett was sublime. She inhabited the character. She did the best piece of female acting since Debra Winger got herself a life and a son and gave up movies. Most of the acting was excellent too. Miss Dunst was watchable and goofy. And Mark Ruffalo and Tom Wilkinson were superb as always.
Jim Carrey was bland and wasted in the leading male role. Any straight up romantic leading man in Hollywood could have done a better job and been more compelling. I just didn't care much about his character and I thought that Clementine deserved so much better. Mark Ruffalo would have been an a better casting. Or Sam Rockwell.
I prefer Mr. Carrey wild and crazy because he can do it so well. Not everyone can run up the Empire State Building and leap off into insanity and still keep the audience with him and believing in him. Well, maybe Groucho Marx could in his prime. But I don't want to see Groucho moping around about Margaret Dumont, I want to see him insulting and wooing and jumping her in the midst of comic chaos created largely by himself. Ditto for Mr. Carrey.

I'll step into the circle with stargirl and say I did not like this movie. It was like watching someone have an anxiety attack or living it for them without actually caring about that person... you just wanted it to stop. The main actors did a good job but I found it just to predictable and I'm someone who can not see the forest for the trees in movies usually. And does Dr. Sunken Tits have to be in her underwear in every movie she's in? All I could think when I saw her was "put some clothes on, girl! Or at least a bra." Elijah was great though. He had the Creepy thing down.

I'm a bit ambivalent on this one. I saw it in the movies with my then-boyfriend (now husband) when we were going through a pretty rough time. I think the concept it hit both of us pretty hard and at the time I thought it was the best movie ever. I bought it as soon as it came out on DVD, and upon second viewing, I didn't really love it. I agree that Kate Winslet put in a good performance, but I really really disliked her character. If that was the intention, then she really nailed it. Jim Carrey was good - he usually annoys the shit out of me also but he was bearable here. I liked all of the other characters, the storyline, imagery, etc. but I have to agree with stargirl that it just didn't have any heart.

I myself enjoyed it. I feel that seeing it at the theater helped somewhat as I could concentrate. I didn't like the flashback scenes where he was a miniature of himself as a boy. That sink bathing scene took a little while to get out of my head. I like that scene at the beach with the house fading away when they said goodbye . I also liked that they had already met before the movie started and the way you found it out. And besides any movie that Kirsten Dunst doesn't bug, this message is aimed at you Spiderman, can't be all bad.

My favourite film. Absolutely beautifully done on every level- script, direction, acting, cinematography- just a masterpiece. Really difficult to pick a favourite part but I do love when Clementine is 'taken' into the memories of Joel as a child and gets to wear seventies clothes/sees him masturbate/defends him from the other boys. Ahh. I can't understand how anyone could not love it. It's so warm and heartfelt, without being trite or overdone. And Jim Carrey -and Lord knows I never thought I'd say this twice (time one being The Truman Show)- is a revelation.

I love this movie. It's in my all-time top ten. I can understand why it wouldn't be some people's thing, but it worked for me. I appreciated that the script assumed a certain intelligence of the viewer and allowed certain information to unfold throughout the course of the movie. I enjoyed that it was visually simple and stunning at the same time. I appreciated the sort of ambigous ending (is it going to work this time for the couple because they've incorporated each other into their subconcious and blocked out some hang ups, or are they doomed to repeat the same mistakes because they didn't learn the first time?). Plus, I notice something different about it each time I see it. Love.
