Saw it last night and loved it - I'd give it a solid 3 stars out of 4, but I like Russell Crowe. Paul Giamatti did his thing, and I forgive him for the travesty that was "Sideways". I still don't know how Renee Zellweger finds work - she has officially landed on my "Movie Stars I Can't Stand" list. The film really went out of their way to demonize >>Max Baer, which I didn't like too much. Max killed two men in the ring and they played that up like he was proud of it. In reality, he was horrified of it, stopped boxing for a while, and came back only to lose about 4 out of 6 matches because he was too afraid to punch.<< But I guess Jack couldn't be a hero w/o a villain.
Oh, and they went out of their way to find the cutest, most talented wee moppets! I love kids who act like KIDS, not wise-cracking, miniature adults.

First time I saw the trailer, I thought it looked good. By the second time, I thought it looked sort of cliched. (And Renee looked so not pretty.) I haven't decided yet if it's worth it to spend the time and money. I guess it depends if there's anything else worth seeing in the theater at the time it's released--if so, I might skip it.

The reviews have been great and I have yet to be disappointed in a Russell Crowe performance. I'm seeing this one!

I can't wait to see this. I'm studying history and I'm most interested in the Great Depression. Athough I am studying the Canadian part (I'm from Saskatchewan, one of the hardest places hit, and my grandparents, who were farmers, lived through it) I am interested in other facets of it as well. I believe that this unfortunate era produced many intriguing stories and this looks to be one of them.

When America was on its knees he said, "hey, as long as you're down there..."

I'm looking forward to seeing it.
I really hope there's a market for what appears to be a drama without explosions, car chases, and CGI effects.

I won't be seeing it.
And why are they releasing this now? Fall seems a better time to be considered for Oscars and its likely going to get lost in the Star Wars hype.

I think Russell Crowe is a great actor and I would go see it, except my husband refuses to see anything with Puffy Zelleweger. But if the reviews are good, it's definitely on my Netflix list.

It's a great movie. Crowe and Giamatti are perfect and Renee isn't near as annoying as usual.
