I totally just teared up at the trailer. I just saw the trailer tonight and, same here. It looks beautiful. And I'm not afraid to see it anymore. I thought it would be too intense for me but it looks ok. I hate crying in public though.

There has been so much talk about this film I was surprised to discover at the theater last night that it isn't out yet.
I'm tepid on both Jake or Heath, but the story has potential. I'll see it if it gets good reviews.

It just received four nominations for Independent Spirit Awards for Best Film, Best Actor (Heath), Best Supporting Actress (Michelle Williams), and Best Director (Ang Lee). The ceremony will be held on March 4th.

BM is the new Entertainment Weekly cover story, plus its movie critic gave it an A.

Ahh! This is the one movie that I really really want to see like now. I wanted to see it yesterday. I hear that Heath Ledger's performance is amazing. Linda Cardilini (sic) and Michelle Williams are also getting rave reviews. Here is some stuff about the movie on MSNBC.com, Brokeback Mountain.

This is one movie that I definitely won't see. I just couldn't feel comfortable and I got to listen to that.

I really want to see it... but I will probably wait for it to come out on video. I only know a little about the story (based on very general reviews and summaries), so I know that it's a "gut-wrenching" movie, which means that I'm probably going to want to bawl. I can't do that in a theater. I will sob in the privacy of my own apartment. Plus, if I have to listen to people sound uncomfortable in the theater, or make gay jokes-- that would make me hella pissed.
But at the same time... I want this to do well so studios don't play the lame "gay card" excuse if it bombs.

While I love summer fluff as much as the next person, after fall, given a choice, I'd much rather see a movie like Brokeback Mountain, which would make me cry for the right reasons than a piece of shit like, say The Dukes of Hazzard, which would make me cry for the wrong ones.

Moldy Tofu do you see this problem as an American problem? I can see, large parts of Western Europe for example embracing the movie. As larger parts of their society tend to not be as hung up on homosexuality as the United States. I live in Nebraska, and I know a lot of people who cannot wait to see this movie. I think the movie might actually do surprisingly well, as some people who are uncomfortable with others knowing that they want to see the movie, may go see it on the down low so to speak.
I can see it doing pretty good box office in places like Canada (the more liberal parts) and parts of Western Europe and Scandanavia. I think what will be interesting is to see how it does in Asia and Eastern Europe.
