I totally want to see this. Ebert also loved it. It seems like there were so many bad movies out for the past month and now nothing but good movies are coming out. Feast or famine at the box office.

I agree- tons of good stuff coming out. I heart Viggo but regardless of that fact -this looks really good and I think has gotten more than one good review. I'll prob see it in theater.

Is that like the whole history of violence. Sounds like it would be a long movie.

I like Viggo too, but I really want to check out this movie because I enjoyed Cronenburg's(sp?) movie Crash!

It's gotten rave reviews everywhere, including my local paper. I'm not one for going to the movies, I'd rather wait for the DVD, but... Ed Harris and Viggo? I will definately be making it to the theatre for this one.

I just saw it today.
LOVED it! It's not that long - just over 90 minutes, but it's quite intense.
Pretty graphic sex scenes - realistic, I guess.
Viggo is great in the movie, and Maria Bello was actually quite good.
I liked how it ended.......

I saw this yesterday and was blown away - both by the performances of Mortensen, Bello and Ashton Holmes, as well as by the movie's intensity. And the sex scenes made the audience gasp, which I loved.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I hated this movie. I thought the ending was unbelievable and abrupt. I'm supposed to believe that woman let a *highlight* cold blooded murderer back into her house with her children? Bullshit! William Hurt's acting was laughably bad, the second sex scene very offensive, *highlight* he slaps her around and beats her a little and then, ooh yes, let's have sex, cause all women really want to be abused and half raped by the men they love! and the violence was pornographic. It makes Quinten Tarantino look like Mr. Rogers.
P.S. I'm not a prude and violence normally doesn't phase me at all.

Regarding the ending - I thought it was at best ambiguous - *highlight* the kids were accepting of him being there - but the tension between Tom and Edie is so intense that you can't be sure what will happen next. I didn't see his coming back as a sign that she would take him back - she refused to look at him. and how do you turn away someone you've lived with for 20 years? The ambiguity was what made the ending for me. I'll agree on Hurt's performance - rather hammy - but blessedly brief. Regarding the second sex scene - (highlight again for spoilers): In that scene Edie is giving in to her own violence - she started the fight by hitting him. She seemed like a very willing participant in everything that happened after that.I guess I'm in the minority, but I hated this movie. I thought the ending was unbelievable and abrupt.
