Thanks, eleanor. I actually hadn't tied the two together, I just happened to have those two thoughts go through my feeble brain consecutively.
Have you been to the Charles and Camilla tankard site yet? There's a whole bunch of expensive krap you can send off for. And the site features a picture of C&C in which she's wearing the world's biggest hat. And that shit-eating grin which we've seen so often recently.

According to Slate, Prince Charles should be pitied. From the article: Camilla's wealthy? Or just her ex-husband? Wasn't this the woman whose friends had to chip in to buy her a house?

Is this the same house that the chickens are laying eggs and shitting all over the furniture in?

I wonder if the merchadise that says April 8th will be worth anything 20 years from now? Brookie, at least we will have plenty of snark material for years to come with this union...

Oo, oo, I can answer this because I just this morning saw it on A&E Biography Channel's "Charles and Camilla."
Camilla de Mare's father was a wine importer, but her mother inherited a great deal of money from her parents. The thing is, although her mum was wealthy and she attended all the requisite "realm of the peer" schools and such, de Mare wasn't born an aristocrat.
The spin in the bio (which they aired directly after they'd repeated "Diana-Princess of the People") also said that de Mare had set her sights on Parker-Bowles long before she met Chuckie de Mule. Parker-Bowles was highly sought after, considered the catch as the most handsome man in Britain's peerage, as well as a great lover.
Initially after they met, it's claimed that de Mule and de Mare only dated 2 months because de Mare was "very in love" with Parker-Bowles and had a "7-year plan" to get him by hook or crook.
I came away from this wretched bio with the strong sense that because Chuckie is a monarch, he is being postured as the one who was hopelessly in love with de Mare, and pursued her. Frankly, I'm quite skeptical of this. I think they pursued each other with equal vigor.
She "understands" him, someone postured on the show. She "lets him be who he is" and isn't "intimidated by him."

Also, Chuckie has been paying Cammie's bills for the past several years. Wealthy, indeed.
On Camilla's A&E biography, one of the people she went to school with described her as "snooty and difficult to get to know". Of course, those descriptions are going to be swept under the carpet if Chuckie's PR men have anything do say about it. Nothing but glowing reviews of Cammie from here on out.
That article by June Thomas just cemented what a spoiled, whiny brat Chuckie is. We should feel sorry for him? Please.
To me, it appears that she does whatever he tells her to do. For the past several years, her life has revolved around being available for Chuckie. Oh, and in between times, she attends galas and rides horses. Pathetic. Remember in those tapes, Cammie once lamented that she hadn't accomplished anything in her life? Chuckie responded by saying "your greatest accomplishment is loving me." Wow. Egotistical, much?
These two fools totally deserve each other.

But she's not really wealthy on her own right? And didn't she lose of bunch of money she did have in a stock market crash or something?
I just thought it was funny that the article said she likes to hide her wealth. Like she has a whole mess of money on her own, which sounds to me like she doesn't.

Well, I had heard forever that she married Parker Bowles because she couldn't have Chuck.
