For some reason, I was surprised about the hunger issue.

When she was younger, she seemed pretty convincing about her thinness being natural, but it's interesting to see the more vulnerable side come out when models hit their late 30s.

I also thought she was comfortable with the nudity issue (not sure why I would assume this though), but if she wasn't I could see how she wound up hitting the cocaine (not because of trying to make herself thinner, but because of depression issues).

She got over the initial discomfort and eventually became extremely uninhibited about nudity. I've seen her posing/hanging out topless with lots of people around and she did not care at all. I always wondered whether that initial experience messed up her boundaries and sent her too far in the other direction, but she seems ok now.

It's funny how much grief Kate got for being "anorexic" because by today's standards she wouldn't stand out as being skinny at all.

Aw, the part about Johnny Depp... I know they had a far from healthy relationship but those two were sooo beautiful together. I love looking at old pics of them. Such an iconic couple of the 90's.

Yeah, she was only 15 when she did the Corinne Day shoot, I don't know how many girls would feel OK about posing topless/nude at that age. She's also told of a time when she went to a photo shoot where she was asked to take her top off by the photographer, but she refused, and later it turned out that the guy was a creep who had managed to photograph other girls.

There's a story in the book 'Fashion Babylon' about Kate Moss going to either a casting or a fitting for a runway show in Paris when she was about 16, and all the models had to line up naked, and Kate was the only one with pubic hair (a "full bush" according to the book). It says afterwards she went straight out and got a full wax. Just awful.

The sad thing is that I suspect that not much has changed for sixteen year old models. No, maybe their boobs won't make the pages of fashion magazines now but they're probably still having to strip like cattle in rooms full of strangers and are coerced into all kinds of shoots that make them uncomfortable.

Did Kate's parents chaperone her jobs when she was still a teenager?

I think the shoot is pretty cool, at least for Playboy and their boring/generic playmates. She looks good despite all the drugs (she'll be 40 in January). I have to admit I laughed at the bunny mask shot of her in bed on the purple satin sheets. WTF? But her body and face look great in the last shot even though I thought her tattoo was a huge mole.
