Searched, but couldn't find a thread. Have to say I'm pretty excited about this ridiculous film. Jarod Hess directs, and the script is by Jared Hess, Jerusha Hess and Mike White. I loved Napoleon Dynamite and School of Rock was pretty funny. Jack Black as a Mexican friar turned wrestler? Heck yes... Exclusive internet trailor, along with some JB video confessions. His accent is so, so awesome. "Sancho, when you are a man...sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room. Is for fun."

I don't know about this one. My kids want to see it, so I'll likely be dragged kicking and screaming.
The nun in this is a dead ringer for Penelope Cruz, but it isn't her is it?

This sounds like an American version of a Mexican comedic film, or one that was inspired by one. A lot of them in the golden age of the 60s and 70s had corny, exagerrated, silly plots (though no more silly than a typical Jim Carrey film) and they are immensely entertaining.
I'd see this for that reason, and because I enjoy the lucha libre Mexican wrestling. I'm a big fan of the low-budget Santos/Blue Demon movies and hope the filmmakers will somehow play homage to them.

I am so going to see this movie when it opens. I could not stop laughing when I saw the trailer on Coming Attractions.
She does resemble her. She is Ana De La Reguera from Mexico. She used to do novelas and most recently was on one in Telemundo.

Does "Nacho Libre" translate to "Free Nachos"? Because that's what I hear in my head every time I read this title.

No, it means free Nacho. Nacho is a nickname for Ignacio. Since the wrestling in Mexico is called Lucha Libre(free style wrestling), it is based on that.

Ah, thank you.
I must admit, I also thought it meant "Book of Nachos" or "Library of Nachos." But Free Nacho makes much more sense.

I'm getting really excited for this movie. The trailer got a big response at X-Men III.

I can't stop laughing at "join me in my quarters ... for some toast (*crunch crunch*)." Hee. I can't wait to see this.

I'll go and see any movie remotely related to wrestling. Jack Black just makes it even better.
I hope he does a cameo on a WWE show as a promotion for the movie. He could wrestle Rey Mysterio.
