I just saw it with my daughter and my parents. It moved kind of slow, and wasn't nearly as funny as School of Rock and Napoleon Dynamite, but it had it's moments.

I saw this on Friday and thought it was very funny and much better than I expected when I first heard the concept of the movie, yet the friend who I saw it with thought it was unfunny and offensive to Mexicans. So which one of us is right?

I saw this when Prada was sold out. Definitely not as outright funny as School of Rock...sort of a slow simmer working to a full boil of ridiculous, goofy humor. It was more about the gestures and the delivery than the jokes for me. I'd love to know what Jack Black's marriage is like: he seems like one of those dudes you can NOT stay mad at.
ETA Goggles, I remember reading that JB was trying his best to be non-offensive, but just on the subject matter alone...I don't see how he could avoid insulting someone. It was just all so ludicrous...hard to take any of it seriously, for better or for worse.

I saw it last week and it was hilarious. I am of Mexican and saw it with a bunch of fellow Mexican-Americans and we were not offended in the least.

I couldn't stop lauging when I saw this but when I try to remember what was so funny about it I come up with nothing. It's one of those movies you enjoy at the time but afterwards you're just kinda "meh." Not a bad way to waste and hour and a half, though.
It was freaky how much the lead actress looked like Penelope Cruz. I thought it was her at first but I've never found her attractive. Ana De... (I can't remember her name, sorry) is very pretty.

I thought she was Winona Ryder when I saw her in the trailer (they showed her for, like, a split second). I see the resemblance to Penelope, too.

Ugh, we went this weekend and we left about 45 minutes into it. We didn't laugh once, and I love the hell out of Jack Black. After WTFing about the midget wrestlers, we went to get margaritas.

How can you not love midget wrestlers?
Midget wrestlers are pretty much my favourite thing ever. I met three hardcore midget wrestlers once, and marked out for weeks about it.
Topic? I saw the trailer before PotC, and cant wait - Ill take the kids to see it too, as long as it doesnt get some stupid rating.

After contemplation and discussions with some of my movie connoisseur friends, I decided that I love this movie. I'm going to buy it on DVD and see if it grows on me like Napoleon Dynamite, Zoolander, and Anchorman. I initially disliked all of those movies the first time I watched them, but grew to love their hilariousness upon further viewing.
