I'm all over this one. I'm an unabashed fan of Colin: greasy, washed, in porn, out of porn...I'll take 'im. It's a rough ride being a fan of his, but I'm buckled in. I think he and Jamie will have solid on-screen chemistry as well. And Mann made me like Cruise again--temporarily--with Collateral, so I'm definitely itching to see what he did with this.

For some reason, that cracks me up. I have no idea. Maybe it is the name "Tubbs" or something.
In any case... I think this is going to be good. I have faith in Mann and think that Foxx and Farrell are both charismatic and talented enough to take this to the next level. I have a good feeling about this movie and hope it doesn't disappoint.

I for one, want to see it. I love cheesy action extravaganzas and my boy Colin, is in fiiiiine form again.
In the movie, even with the stache, extra weight and long greasy hair he still looks good to me. I think he just has that something about him that makes him have a real screen presence.
I think that the trailer was nicely done. Good song for the clips.

There is no way I am seeing this movie. I HATE Jamie Foxx and I don't care for Colin "Greasy" Farrell.

Here's what The Hollywood Reporter had to say.

Anyone who's interested in production, Entertainment Weekly has a pretty interesting article out. It sounds like quite an adventure working with Michael Mann.

Saw the trailer and was not impressed. Why call it Miami Vice? It was such a product of the times, the clothes, the music the annoying Micheal Mann style. [cut away, cut away, what's going on?] The only way to have done it would have been as a spoof.
[I'd still do Colin, but only with saran wrap and triple condoms.]

It sounds like the only thing that's the same is the black/white partnership and the Miami location, pathtaken. I've read Mann did all this research to 'update' the story so much...it really doesn't sound like the television show at all. But then you figure, if the studio wanted this type of movie and wanted Mann to do it, what better way to package it than as the ever-popular remake? (a term that personally makes me cringe these days but what can you do...)

I wonder if this film will be the one to bump Pirates from the #1 spot?
I hope not, just because I'd like to see Pirates reign for another week and beat all kinds of records, but I have a feeling that's not going to happen.
