If you are looking at the tile during a sex scene, then that must be a spectacularly boring sex scene.

The uber-seriousness is right on, but unfortunately, the word "eventually" doesn't belong in there. There is nothing remotely exciting, interesting, or intense about this film, from minute one. I wonder what direction Mann gave the actors, because they all speak like they're making observations. Everything was delivered in the same tone as one might remark. "There's a clock on the wall."
And according to Box Office Mojo, Miami Vice beat PotC by 5 million. Dammit, my $10 is in there.

If you are looking at the tile during a sex scene, then that must be a spectacularly boring sex scene. It was one of the least sexy, most boring sex scenes that I've ever seen in a movie (even more boring than a sex scene featuring CTC). I just can't get over how utterly passionless and humorless this movie was.

I saw it this weekend. Colin and Jamie don't even have that many scenes together, but when they do, they don't have much chemistry. The plot seemed convoluted and confusing. I liked Colin's performance, but both of them did underperform. The film is In-Name-Only to the TV series, in that the two main characters have the same name, and it's (mostly) set in Miami, and has stylish movie. A lot of it, though, was set in Central America.
I also really was craving for a chase scene and never got it. A cop action flick without a car/boat/moving object chase scene?
>>I had to go get some type of food during the middle, and when I walked back in, Colin and Gong Li were in the middle of an affair. How did it go from a "typical" drug run to Colin and Gong gettin' it on in some hotel? That was one of the several confusing things. <<

But now I'm hearing that they were terrible.

Pretty pathetic seeing as POTC2 is in its fourth week.

forever1267,
Um, they made eye contact. Then >> they went to Cuba together and had sex. There was no set up, no real justification, and then they were in Lurve. <<

This is the worst movie I have seen in a very long time. I could hardly understand most of the dialogue (between Colin not having a handle on the American accent and Gong Li, as beautiful and talented as she is, not speaking English very well), and what I could understand was awful. There was absolutely no chemistry anywhere, not between Farrell and Foxx, Farrell and Li, or Foxx and the chick playing his girlfriend. The plot was, in addition to be played out and done to death, completely ludicrous and underdeveloped. And according to the friends I saw it with, almost everyone's Spanish was awful. About the only thing I enjoyed were the shootouts and Elizabeth Rodriguez.

Dude, that tile was GORGEOUS!
Huh. I guess it was kinda boring. :/ So slow. Bad pacing, Mann. And Foxx and Farrell didn't have the chemistry I expected. I think Farrell--my husband, lest you forgot (and yeah, you haters, I got my Lysol right here!)--was totally miscast. His accent was horrible. Why do directors insist on making him try to cover the brogue? It's useless. Embrace the brogue. Love the brogue.
And Naomie Harris--love her in general, hated her accent. West Indian? Spanish? Creole? Did everyone sign an Accent Sheet--first come, first serve? And all the good accents got taken?
Well, I'll say this: everyone was good looking. So, yeah! ::pumping enthusiastic fist:: Hurray for good genes.
