My kids want me to take them to this, but I don't like the looks of it based on the previews and some reviews I've read. The comedy looks gimmicky and I heard it gets serious and schmaltzy towards the end (sounds just like Bid Daddy, which I hated but the kids loved).
Did anyone see this and like it?

I liked this okay. It was better than The Breakup. (Plus it was $6 for both movies at the drive-in. I'd see almost anything for that price.)
I totally did not recognize Kate Beckinsale. Must have been because she wasn't wearing skintight leather.
It's an Adam Sandler movie. Some gross stuff for comedy. His damn yelling in a couple scenes. The kids are pretty cute (mostly). Did get schmaltzy, but not too bad. I'd probably even watch it again.

Not bad at all. I even teared up!
And there was Michael Jackson and Britney Spears snark. Totally unexpected and pretty funny.

Tagged because it's still in theaters and maybe there is someone out there who doesn't want to be spoiled for a joke in an Adam Sandler movie.
There were little news blurbs going on at times to give you an idea of how much time had passed. So the Britney one was something like "Britney Spears just gave birth to her 23rd child. Kevin Federline is thinking about getting a job."
And the MJ one was "Michael Jackson, the first person to clone himself, is now suing himself, for molesting himself."

If I knew how to do spoilers correctly, I would have helped. But nope. Thanks wprock.

I finally went to see this and was a little surprised at how sweet and sentimental it was. I actually started tearing up and one point and had to remind myself this is a stupid Adam Sandler movie and I must not cry.
The one thing I didn't like was David Hasselhoff. He's good to put in a movie for a few minutes as a gag, but to have a full-on supporting role was too much. That role could have played out much better with a real actor.

I cried at this movie a few times. But then I am separated from my husband right now, so everything makes me cry!! I got a little teary during the scene where Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale were on a date and were passing the note back and forth (I won't spoil anymore!) and again at the end a few times. It was a very sweet movie, IMO.

I haven't seen the movie, but I would just like to say Jack Nicholson's daugher (who plays the older version of Sandler's girl in the movie) is gorgeous. She's what? Like 15? She's going to be a stunner as she ages.
