Yeah, I've always said this movie was about my family.
Black comedy or satire though it is, it's probably one of those movies that I think feels so real, because no matter how much you laugh at the characters, these are people you KNOW. And what's so-not-Christmas about spending time with people you know?

Just have to add my two cents in about how much I love this movie. I love the picture-perfect, New England setting. It cracks me up how self-obsessed Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey are that even with a guy holding a gun to their heads they can't stop arguing with each other.
This is truly one of the funniest movies ever. I also own it but will stop and watch it whenever I see it.

The part where he has them tied up and needs a Band-Aid so she tells him to use the ouchless ones (that IS this movie, right? It's been ages since I've seen the whole thing) makes me cry.
