Ok, I searched and didn't find a thread.
I loved it, but I am pretty darn liberal. I can see why it's getting bad reviews, because it is pretty obviously anti-Bush and takes HUGE jabs at Diebold(?) (the company that is mainly responsible for voting machines) and basically talks about how the governor of a certain state *coughFloridacough* bought the election, and how the system of voting allegedly f-ed up.
So, being the staunch anti-Bush'er I am, I loved it.
DeNiro has a funny cameo, and there are wonderful jabs at Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise, and many other celebs in it.
It gets my snarky two thumbs up, but like I said, I'm really liberal.

If going to movies was the same as going to the polling booth, I'd be all "anyone but Robin Williams". In fact, I am "anyone but Robin Williams". Surely, surely there was someone else who could've pulled it off? Lewis Black simply isn't enough to get me to watch an extended Robin Williams riff.

It looks like a funny premise, but Robin Williams can really get on my nerves. Who do you guys think would've been better casting? I love Colbert, Steve Carell, and Jon Stewart, but I don't know if they would be the right fit for the role either. I despise Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell. Chris Rock already did a similar movie. Maybe a female comedian? Maybe someone who is good at comedy but isn't really a comedian?

Kris, Colbert in this movie = good idea. EVERYTHING is better with Colbert. ETA: Yikes, I sound really drooly-fangirl here.

Yeah, I think it would be too meta if it were Jon Stewart, but I think it could work with Colbert. I like the idea of this movie, but Robin Williams will keep me away.

I must be one of the five people in the US who actually LIKE Robin Williams, because I thought he rocked it.
My mom and I did turn to each other in the middle and say: "Dude! Jon Stewart should SO run for President!!"
I was happy to see a full theater and hear a lot of laughs in my very conservative state. It gives me a bit of hope.

This was really funny. I honestly don't know why it's getting slammed like it is.
So sue me, I love Robin.

I didn't know it was getting slammed. I may check it out, as the premise is funny and I guess the role suits Robin Williams well. Plus, there is a good supporting cast.
