Rest in peace, RP. Definitely had his hard moments, but a talented comedian. He'll be missed.

I really enjoyed his comedy. He was a brilliant comedian who had a very strange life. May he rest in peace.

I have heard bits and pieces but can someone fill me in on his struggles? I know about the drug and booze and catching on fire- that right there is enough hardships for anyone.
I also love that SNL bit w/ Chevy and his role in Superman (3?). RIP, Richard. The world is a better place for knowing you.

From what I know he was raised without a father, very poor -- his mom and aunts worked in a brothel. He was a brilliant man who seemed to have too many emotional demons. RIP

RIP. His old stuff shows just how much funnier he was than most of the new comedians.
IIRC Not only did his mom work there, he grew up in the brothel. He had a few run ins with the mob when he started in comedy, and in his act he also mentioned being molested by an older boy when he was young.
A sad childhood all the way around.

The brothel was run by his grandparents and was in the roughest part of town.
RIP, Richard.

Someone remind us of the story about him and his wife (gf?), Jennifer. Weren't they together for a while, then they broke up, then after he got sick she came back to him and stuck by him until the end? That's beautiful.
Rest in piece.
