To be fair, no one was taking pictures of her until the criticism started up. I might be perfectly happy with my elective* surgery, but if it's criticized to the point that Russell Brand is writing an editorial on it then I doubt I'd be walking around beaming.
I do agree that she has never seemed completely together and I feel for her there. She's a really good actress (IMO), but I find myself wondering if the industry is at all a good fit for her.
*Of course, as was mentioned upthread, it may not have been entirely elective which would make this even worse

It might be wrong for me to say this, but her eyes look more expressive. Maybe that was her motivation as an actress. To me she looks fine, just different.

I see pictures of Renee all the time on DailyMail. She gets photographed. Not as much as when she was dating BCoop, but she still gets papped.

All I can see that have changed are her eyelids, eyebrows and age. mash-upI agree with this. I think someone upthread mentioned that she looked more weathered. Aside from the eyes, it looks like an overall makeunder. If she got her eyes done for whatever reason but is otherwise not trying to desperately hang on to her 20-something face, then I say more power to her. If she had decided to do a makeup-free magazine cover, she would have gotten kudos for the same image.

All I can see that have changed are her eyelids, eyebrows and age. mash-upI can't stop looking at this for some reason. I loved her "squinty" eyes, dammit! But, my aunt had a, uh, over eye lift (?) in her late 40s because she said if she let it go any longer she wouldn't be able to see. Renee should have just said that. "Screw you guys. I couldn't see for years. How else do you think I could date Jack White and marry Chesney?"

My MIL had blepharoplasty done for medical reasons, and I foresee needing it myself at some point. (When I had LASIK done, my doc almost had to give up on one eye because he couldn't get the eye-opening thingamajig jammed into my deep-set little eye. Pair that with hoody lids, and I'm fucked.)

MrF's falling eye lids got to the point he was duct taping his eyebrows to the top of his head to keep them open enough for him to see when he was doing delicate work. We haven't seen Renee for years, we have no idea how far the "squinty" had gone, but blepharoplasty was medically mandated in his case and I could certainly see it in hers. Full disclosure, I had blepharoplasty 15 years ago when I saw my left eye (round lidded) precipitously fall in the genetic way I saw everyone in my family's fall. I hoisted that baby up (actually had a sliver of skin removed from the top lid) and I could not be happier with the procedure.
I can not imagine the scrutiny of what these ladies "damned if you do, damned if you don't" in Hollywood go through.

I think that if Renee had just had her eyebrows waxed and put a little more effort into her makeup, this wouldn't have been such a big deal. Had her grooming been a little bit more "red-carpet" and less "rolled-out-of-bed", yeah, her eyes would have looked bigger but overall the impact would have been less.
