People can say whatever rude things they like about a celeb, but they need to not be surprised and concern-trolly when said celeb snaps and does something about whatever it was people were snarking at, you know? She's been putting up with jabs at her squint and lips for 20 years; I'm only surprised that it took her this long, frankly.

I agree with you dragonflie. I have such self loathing about my physical appearance and I have snarked on Rene's appearance. If she suffers as much anxiety and depression as reported then she is way more brave in living her life than I will ever be.
That said, looks like she had her eyes done, a facelift, a chin implant, cheek implants. Gillian Anderson is a woman who has changed the shape of her face (starting with a chin implant) but she has done so gradually. Rene didn't do that, plus she didn't change her hairstyle so that we would be misdirected and think its the short black hair or the long red hair that made her look different. Minka Kelly is another person who doesn't have the face she was born with. yeah, I spend way too much time wishing I had the money and courage to change my face!

Yeah, but this speaks more to Renee's profound mental illness than anything meanies on the internet have said about her. Let's not forget that in her real life Renee was a high-school Homecoming Queen, co-starred in a Tom Cruise movie at 26, was a muse for Carolina Herrera, dated a ton of super-famous men who literally could have any woman they wanted but chose her, won a slew of acting awards including an Oscar, and had innumerable make-up artists, hairdressers, publicists, agents, press agents and friends/family all kissing her ass and telling her how gorgeous she was for the past 20+ years, and it wasn't enough. So I'm not going to wring my hands and sob for the skinny, blue-eyed blonde woman (or those who relate to her so strongly) because she can't handle being called "squinty" and chose to carve up her face instead of spending some of her millions on the therapy she desperately needs and can so easily afford.

That's making an unfounded claim that she had her eyes done because of aesthetics and not for any vision-related problems. She could easily have been motivated by the latter, as many people with heavily hooded eyes do.

What? This is the first I've heard of this. I know she's lost puppy fat (particularly from her first 1995 pregnancy) but I've never heard about her looking different.
I was under the impression they don't really do facelifts anymore. They do fillers and neck lifts, etc. but a "facelift" on a 45 year old in this day and age seems severe. I'm pretty sure she's had her upper and lower lids done though.

There was a side by side comparison of Renee Zellwiger online today and the only difference I saw was her eyes. The lips/nose/jaw all looked the same to me.
That said, I like her (am I like the Sister Mary Sunshine of this board?)if she's happy with the way she looks then who am I to criticize?

Looks more like her former self here, IMO.

Why is any insecurity she might be feeling as a result of decades of ridicule less worthy of consideration and compassion than anyone else's? Blonde and thin means that you don't count?

She looks incredibly sad and a little distraught in the pix I've seen recently. That could be her anxiety, but she just doesn't seem like a well woman. She never has.
