I loved her tipsy Texan accented speech last night. You could clearly tell she enjoys being back in the A list circles. I hope she wins the Oscar, I really do. Beautiful gown as always. She knows how to dress for these occasions.
I will always have a soft spot for her because I believe Hollywood has really done a number on her. She is amazingly talented, but all people ever talk about are her looks. Then she gets surgery to “fix” something, and it doesn’t change the conversation one bit. “OMG what did she do to her face?” But look at her acting resume and this woman has amazing range and works her ass off to nail the part.

I thought Renee was pretty before her surgery. I understand why she had it done, but she looks a bit pulled tight in the face.
I haven't seen her latest movie, but she is a talented actress who deserves all her awards.

Good on her. I haven't seen Judy, but the industry and the general dismissed her as it does to a lot of aging actresses. She comes back with an amazing performance and is a virtual lock to win the Best Actress Oscar.

Definitely rooting for her to win over ScarJo. For once I'm glad a biopic nom is a lock to win.

As I said in the last thread, I think she is going to win. I've only been this sure twice before: Jamie Foxx for Ray, and Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart.
The movie itself is basically your standard biopic, but she is truly brilliant in it. And it's true that she doesn't sing like Judy but by the time of the period depicted in the movie, neither was Judy. So I think it works pretty well.

Ooh, I like Renee Z! She's a good actress. I'll have to watch the Judy biopic, though I bet it's devastating to see.

I watched her SAG speech after her win and wow her Texan accent is strong. I didn't realize, but then I've mostly just seen her speak in movies.

Her Texan accent didn't used to be so strong. It's been magnified by about 100 in her recent acceptance speeches. I'm not sure where she actually lives now, but maybe she's been spending more time there in recent years.

I wonder if she intentionally suppressed her accent during her acting heyday and now that she's older, she DGAF anymore!
