Renee at the BAFTAs in Prada. Meh. Her other gowns this awards season have been better but maybe that means she's wisely saving her best dress for the Oscars.

I know! She MUST either have stood up the whole ride over (in some sort of limo with a...special standing compartment?) or she literally lies down in the car on the way over and then a bunch of people stand around her/shield her from cameras as she shimmies out of the car/into a standing position.

Renee at the Oscars in custom Armani Prive. This is stunning. Funny that Armani Prive dressed both probably winners in the female acting categories and that they did so right by Renee and so wrong by Laura Dern.

IMO she's been wearing super staid dresses all awards season, but really knocked it out of the park at the Oscars. She doesn't look like she's in costume, it's totally her, but still stunning. Good job.
Haven't seen the movie, but I can believe that she's great in it. And the acting awards should be about actual performance, not if the overall movie is the best. And yeah, real headscratcher why Dern was in that dress? It was clear she was winning, why chose something so underwhelming (I don't know who made that ultimate choice...but IMO it was a wrong one for her big night)?
