Just liked him. Thanks Augustus!
Does anyone know if he's working with Weta Digital again? They seemed such a critical part of the trilogy...

That was a wonderful video. I love how the artists all duck away from the cameras.

So... Evangeline Lilly of Lost will be playing a new character, a woodland elf in The Hobbit. Not sure what I think about it. I understand that they will be introducing some new characters, and maybe especially female ones, since there are like, NO females in the book. Evangeline is not my favorite actress, but I can see that she's got the look for an elf, and she is not completely horrible. Big score for her I would think. I wonder if motherhood has mellowed her views on how horrible it is to be pretty?

I was definitely more excited about Stephen Fry being a part of the movie. Oh and Barry Humphries! Evangeline is more eh.

I can't imagine Evangeline Lilly having a big role in this.

December 14, 2012 for Part I and December 13, 2013 for the conclusion
I can't believe it will have been ten years this December since The Fellowship of the Ring came out!

It's amazing to me there's two parts, because the story was so slight. No wonder they're adding characters.

First trailer[/color] It's a bit jumpy, which might be inevitable - I'm guessing the material is all over the place since they're filming two movies and only just started location shooting. But the dwarves singing is such a wonderful moment, it made me remember why the LOTR movies weren't just common blockbusters to me but something more emotional.

The look and feel of it is just right imo, and makes me happy PJ ended up as director after all. And like you, I thought the singing dwarves was the best part. That scene totally gives me chills. It reminds me of Aragorn singing to the hobbits in the FOTR extended edition (he sings the Lay of Luthien). I really love the way the dwarves look: way less makeup than Gimli, and they all have very different looks. Hot dwarves? Who would have thunk it?
