Harry lost all his ceremonial military appointments years ago. This was at the behest of the brass who were consulted by HLM. They said it was untenable and demoralising for the troops to have a "leader" who left duty and country etc. It could never have gone to him and he knows it. So if there's any basis to this it's a plant to try and make people sorry for Harry. Although since he seems to have no awareness what so ever I can imagine him being upset at this. This was never even one of Harry's honorary military appointments. The stories are making it sound like Harry was stripped of something which was then handed to William, but Harry never had any claim to it. Seems like there should be a time limit on how long Harry can hypothetically covet potential new assignments at the job he quit four years ago (or in this case, how long the tabloids can portray him as coveting them). |

Yeah I realise that it was never one of his appointments, I just meant that no one he included should be surprised or upset when a military appointment went to someone else when he was already stripped of his other ones because they want a working royal resident in the UK. I don't think either he or the press are going to let go of "but he's a real veteran!" as long as it's good clickbait for them. I think Harry does care slightly but perception is more important to him. Remember him suing The Times about him not being in contact with veterans charities. He never disputed that he hadn't been in contact, just that reporting that fact was detrimental to veterans mental health. Even if it was HLM saying this it would be delusions of grandeur. |

Agreed, this isn't even tempest in a teapot territory for me, it's just plain silly. Charles had the appointment, it's now been passed to William, Harry's prior military service and appointments are irrelevant here.

Nice to see William and his cousins out at the Royal garden party today. I can’t wait to se Kate back out at events but it was nice to see Zara, Bea & Eugenie out with William today.

And the Gloucesters were there too. Happy to see the support that William is getting across the generations. For all the press about how dysfunctional the Windsors are, rival courts briefing against eachother, etc. they do seem to be a by-and-large very loyal bunch with close-knit extended family relationships. Even Andrew and Fergie are still in the mix, despite it all.
In a lot of ways I'm actually jealous of how close William is with his cousins, and that their children are also being raised to know eachother. Wish I had those types of bonds in my own family.

Peter was there as well. It was really nice to see all the younger generation out like that. It must be so nice for W to have their support since C isn’t by his side right now.
And now their appearances are on hold because of the election. Annoying!

Happy 42nd birthday, Prince William!The photo is taken at the beach in Norfolk. Charlotte, William, Louis, and George are holding hands and jumping joyfully over the sand and beach grass. It looks like they took a running jump! I'm so glad that Kate didn't let the Photoshop controversy stop her from taking pictures of her family. This is a great shot!
