Well, I think the reason we (the un-$cieno public) know about Xenu b/c people who have defected from the clams have outed them. Supposedly, when you're in the cult, you don't talk about anything you've been taught by them, and only learn what they want you to learn. They don't actually get taught about Xenu until OTIII.

Does anyone else think "Off topic" when they see OT#?

Supposedly, they don't learn about the aliens/thetans/Xenu until they are well along the clam path. The alien stuff has become common knowledge (at least on the internet) because people who have left the church spilled the beans.

Lower level clams don't hear about it because the church (supposedly) monitors everything they read/watch on tv, and installs filters on their computers so they can't go to "suppressive" websites.

Moldy, basically, WE know about Xenu because it's become public knowledge. Originally, it was only learned after clams reached OT III. Then, later on, some ex-Scientologists started leaking the cult's papers and documents, the Internet became bigger, and now a lot more people outside the cult know about it.

BUT...those who join and don't know about it won't be told the story until they reach the upper levels. And they're strictly monitored and censored-remember, they have to put special filtering software on their computers. They're told if they learn the secrets too soon, it will damage them. (The truth being if they learn the story before they're fully brainwashed, they'll realize what a sack of shit it is).

I keep wondering when Dateline, Primetime Live, Sixty-Minutes, 20/20 (heck, even Oprah) is going to do a show on Scientology.

Check out xenutv.com. 20/20 covered Sci in '98, 60 Minutes in '97, Dateline in '98... I think they're just due for an update with a Cruise spin. I bet you anything they're working on it right now; it just takes time to compile those dramatic indepth investigative reports. ;D
