R.I.P.: In the grand tradition of Threes, we have lost Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Tony the Tiger and the singer of Grinch tunes) and Ismail Merchant of Merchant-Ivory filmmaking fame. I wonder who'll be the 3rd? (I guess it can't be Lopez, a local DJ-slash-institution from my hometown, but Hasta, Lopez, Hon!)
And I always feel terrible when my first reaction is "I had no IDEA he was still alive!" Sorry, Thurl...

According to Findagrave's list of recently departed notables, this week we lost veteran character actors Stephen Elliott, who played the almost father-in-law Burt in Arthur, and Howie Morris, who played the poetry-spouting hillbilly son of the soil Ernest T. Bass on The Andy Griffith Show. Not household names per se, but they made their marks at one time.

I'll claim that bone-rack Olsen twin if no one else has. She seems more than determined to be the most skeletal corpse Holywood has ever seen.

She wasn't just a sexy broad, she was a damn classy one, too. I hate this news.

I am in no way calling him because I don't want it to happen, but I wonder what Mel Brooks will do? They always seemed like best friends as well as husband and wife. He always gave her credit for inspiring and supporting him. Very sad...
Didn't know that Mitch Hedberg had died. I have a dvd of his performance on Comedy Central. In the unedited version, he has to sit on the stage at one point and it is obvious that the substance abuse is full force. Funny material - sad situation, I guess.
