The speculation about Babe Ruth several pages back reminded me of how I always thought he looked so much like one of my high-school teachers that he could have passed for her brother. She was biracial (white/black). I've heard quite a few people say that not only did they believe he was part black, but that they heard he was subject to racial slurs throughout his career because of that suspicion. IIRC, I either read or saw somewhere (maybe on the Ken Burns Baseball documentary), that Ty Cobb, a nasty piece of work in general, who also happened to be a vicious racist, used the n-word when referring to Ruth. Also, I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that Cobb actually called Ruth a n***** to his face.
I know I haven't heard about any clarification one way or the other regarding his racial backround. So, it appears that, to this day, for a lot of people, Ruth still fits in the ambiguous category.

Re: Ruth
That's the same I heard. I think the reason he was put into an (all boy) orphanage at the age of 7 was partly/greatly due to the fact that he was looking less and less white looking.
There was no mention of whether the parents kept his sister, but figuring, she couldn't go to the nearby orphanage then, most likely they kept her, in part because she wasn't tanning.

US ice dance Champion Naomi Lang was half (I think it's half) Native American, and I followed her skating career for years before I learned that. I remember she set a record of some kind for a Native American in the 2002 Olympics, but I can't quite recall what the specific record was.

Brandon Boyd of Incubus is half Mexican, I believe. I know I asked this again, but what ethnicity is Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine?

Tom Morello is half-Kenyan (his uncle was a president of Kenya) and half Irish/Italian. He went to Harvard as well and is one of the more knowledgable rock star/activists.

I was reading the IMDb about Wentworth Miller, and it said that there is some black heritage in his background!
That's something, I truly didn't know! I did see the Human Stain, which motivated me to look up information on him, and I was surprised.

When he guest starred on Popular and Buffy, I knew there was something unique about him and then when I heard he was biracial, that made sense to me.

nodo, its a bit more than some black heritage - his dad is black link. To be fair I have read elsewhere that Miller's father himself was biracial but identified himself as black.
