I am totally not buying that albino theory. Or should I say "theory" because it just sounds crackpot, and a theory is more scientific.

I'm no scientist, so I just put it out in laymen's terms.

Claim it? I think Salma wears her Middle Eastern ancestry on her sleeve. Her last name is "Hayek," after all. Most of her interviews/profiles I've come across mention her Lebanese roots. It comes up periodically in this thread that so-&-so celebrity is in denial about his/her ____ ancestry. Sometimes, in real life, that's true. But the cases mentioned in this thread seem pretty baseless. Whether it's Jennifer Tilly, Mariah, or Salma ... what do people expect them to do? Tattoo their family tree on their forehead? Maybe you just learned that a celebrity has a diverse ethnic background, and it's news to you. But that doesn't mean that the celebrity was ashamed and trying to suppress that info. It just means that the info finally got around to you. Also, Mackenzie Rosman looks like a lot of Ashkenaz Jewish girls I know. Amen to that.

Of course if that theory was true then non-Africans would all be albino and they're not. It also does not consider the wide range of skin colors people have. Albinism is not a scalar effect: you are either albino and have no pigment or you are not: there's no inbetween.

If you fully understand evolution. Humans evolved over the years. The theory said two albinos producing a child, would most likely present a baby with pigment, since having pigment is a dominant gene and albinoism is a recessive gene.
Please remember that the parents stay albino but their offspring would have color and the minority of the offspring would be albino.
Back to the theory. . .
As circumstance would have it these people tended to stick together for the mere sake of survival. As a result, you would have a tribe of albinos and light pigmented people living together. Over the years, the light pigment people would dominate, because they would carry the dominant gene.
We are talking about Africans, I don't see where you are going with this. Since, the further you live from the equator, the longer exposure you need to the sun in order to generate vitamin D. Canada, the UK and most U.S. states are far from the equator.
Now, I'm thinking that Vitamin D theory sounds more hokey than a couple of albinos getting it on to make a baby with pigment.
