I find it odd that so many are interested in celebrities ethnic backgrounds. Who cares. The majority is mixed, even if it's welsh & british. I mean hell, people are calling Simon from 7th heaven mixed!
Technically true, but I doubt any cubans think of him as one of them.
I'm Native, Italian, Irish and French Canadian. What does that make me?
Canadian. I think 90% of these folks are just American.

That's not mixed. That's white and white, and it's all part of the United Kingdom.
I find it odd that you dropped in on a topic that you find odd. You wonder who cares, and then you bother to make a post. Hey, your post isn't going to keep people from posting or even feel guilty about posting on a topic that appeals to them.
So. . .
I suggest you make your second post a real snark or go blame Canada for something -- not us.

I'm very interested in my own racial make-up. I see this is your first post- so welcome! Maybe you would be more comfortable posting in the many other topics?

Hey all: I truly apologize if that sounded snarkier than it was meant to be. Plus I didn't realize it was only my first or second post here. I've been lurking here and at Snarkfest since they began and I assumed I had posted before. If I had realized otherwise I likely would have posted in another topic first ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I wasn't intending to criticise those of you who find the multi-racial topic interesting; it's no different than the "Who's gay?" topic or the "Who's getting divorced?" topic or any other gossip threads. I just genuinely find it interesting that the topic is of...well, interest. I think it's mostly because as someone who is completely and totally caucasian looking but is in fact, mixed race (e.g. David Gallager), I've always been told by others that you're only mixed race if you *look* mixed race. So it's interesting (ugh, I need a thesaurus) to see talk of all these very white looking celebrities. Anyhow, before I stick my foot in my mouth any further, I apologize again. I was just curious as to why this particular bit of a person's background is interesting. But then I realized that the I'm always curious about who might be gay, and that's the same thing, so I'm a gigantic hipocrite. Mea Culpa.

adwan I get your point though. Right after me and Mr. ShawnaLanne were married a friend of mine asked how it felt to be in a multi-racial relationship. Since I don't really think of my husband as being multi-racial most of the time I was a bit taken back.
He's half japanese and scots/german. But, you know, he's never been to Scotland or Germany and has only visited Japan half a dozen times in his life. So he's just American as far as I'm concered.
It's funny cuz depending on his hair and what he's wearing people think he's native american or mexican more than they think he's asian.
and I'm just a mutt, welsh, german, irish, mexican, native american, french. Though I look really german/irish.

What's Tia Carrera's racial makeup? I know she's probably from Hawaii, but I see more Asian than native Hawaiian.

According to IMDB, Tia Carrera is "part Chinese, part Spanish, part Filipino."

Just something I noted and thought was interesting.
Two of the male members in the pairs skating teams looked to be biracial.
The one guy from Germany, and I think the American pairs skater. As a matter of fact, both guys look like they could be brothers....pretty faces, hazel eyes.
It's interesting in that nothing was mentioned about it, in that the absence of the "black athlete" has been a small running joke in the winter Olympics.
I'm glad to see it, and hope for a better representation in years to come.
