Being Latino is a cultural thing, not an ethnicity or race. So you could be of European ancestry AND be Latino, if that's where you're from.
I think a lot more people are multi-racial than you think. It's very much a situational thing: most Americans refer to people as being of "European" ancestry whereas Europeans think of clear differences betwen the typical Mediterranean, Slavic, Nordic, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon person. Conversely as Europeans we tend to think of all of you as "Americans" no matter what color or race you are. Same with Africa or Asia or any region where people dress or look or speak superficially the same to an outsider.

I agree... race is a genetic distinction and refers to people with shared ancestry and that is not required by Jewish people. However, I think it's fun to figure out what a persons culture and ethnic group is, as well.
Can we include this too?
I remember in the 80's, everyone thought Paula Abdul must be Middle Eastern... and not just because of her last name... her looks were hard to define... who knew she was Jewish of Spanish or North African descent?
To get back on topic... Eddie Murphy's wife is supposed to be black... yet she doesn't look it at all. Are those contacts that she wears? Does anyone know what race (or--if you don't mind, what ethnic group) she is?

No, I don't want to include ethnicity and culture in this post, because that's not what is about. It's about celebs who are multiracial-and how most peeps didn't know they were.
Eddie Murphy's wife is biracial. As far as I know, her eye color is genuine. She does look black to me, albeit light skinned.

Vin Diesel is 1/2 black (father), 1/2 Italian (mother). His thread at the old place had confirmed that.
As a multi-racial, multi-ethnic person myself I am always startled when I discover that not everyone can "see" the mixed-edness in others. Jennifer Beals, Rosario, Keanu, Thandie Newton - it's quite apparent really.

I remember the People Magazine story about the actress Victoria Rowell, who is light-skinned but unmistakably African-American.
She gave birth to a blue-eyed, towheaded child and when she left the hospital they stopped her at first, thinking she was taking someone else's baby.

Victoria Rowell is also half white half black and was given up for adoption by her mother. Her first husband was white and she had Maya, her daughter who is the blonde child you described. I think that child is about 12 or 13 now.
I remember that article. She used to get upset when the stewardess on the airplane would mistake her for being Maya's nanny and not her mother.

Maya was at the NAACP awards with Victoria. You wouldn't know she had black ancestry at all. She is a total All-American blonde, blue eyed child.
What is Sheila E?
