I'm loving the no-hockey thing, too! Unfortunately, some business are really suffering because of it... but quite honestly, I never even noticed it was gone... ETA - does ANYONE actually watch Corner Gas or the one with the people on the Go-train? ::) I watch Corner Gas. I find it very funny yet the thought of living in such a small town terrifies me.

I used to LOVE Kids in the Hall, lots of my favorite comedians are Canadian. Chandler was my favorite "Friend" and Toronto is one of my favorite cities to visit!
However, it is difficult to make up for Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and those fuckers who gave Conan O'Brien and Triumph such a hard time!

I loved the South Park Movie!
"Hey, the Canadian government has apologised for Bryan Adams on several occasions"

I watch Corner Gas and occasionally Train 48. I actually watch a lot of Canadian TV shows...The Eleventh Hour, La Fureur, and of course DeGrassi: TNG. In my defense, I'm unemployed and might have to go back to the States soon, so I feel like I have to get my Canadian TV fix while I still can.

That's what I'm talking about VacationLand! The politicians and the media live in a crazy world composed of 98% pure bullshit. The people know. The Canadians and the Americans, and that's all that's needed.
If I have to watch Peter Mansbridge coming in his pants (sorry) one more time "OMG America TOTALLY mentioned/noticed us you guys!!!11!1!!!" one. more. time. argh!
Also, can I just say that I *loved* Conan and Triumph wading oh so innocently into our own national psychosis over the French/English thing? Seeing sacred cows pissed on is a beautiful thing (and before you ask, hell yeah I would have laughed if they were making fun of squareheads like me as well). Anyway, it gave parliament something to get their panties in a non-controversial wad about, didn't it? Being *OFFENDED!* is our specialty, we're Canucks!

does ANYONE actually watch Corner Gas or the one with the people on the Go-train? I really love Corner Gas, but then again I can relate all too well to the location, the size of the town, and even the gas station thing. Can't change the channel fast enough when the Go Train one comes on, whatever it's called. It has become a game to see whether we can cut it off at the first or the second note of the theme song, wildly switching to anything ANYTHING even CBUFT. Vaguely related to Corner Gas (as in - some of the same actors) - has anyone seen The Delicate Art of Parking? Thoughts?

I like Corner Gas. I'm not from a small town, but it just seems so...Canadian I guess. And funny. I used to watch Train 48, it's kind of like a boring improvised soap/sitcom. Oh and Trailer Park Boys rules! It's funny, the only sitcoms I watch are Canadian ones.

I watch Corner Gas and laugh hysterically because it portrays the characters in the small town I live in so perfectly. And YES it is so very terrifying.
Trailer Park Boys is a favourite in my house but it drives me crazy sometimes, I can only take about 4 hours of it a day. I wonder if people who watch it in other countries think that all we do is sit around and smoke dope all day(when we aren't busy snarking on the internet). I do have to admit my favourite episode was when Rita McNeil was a guest star.

Why are they pimping the 2010 Olympics already? Do the athletes even care yet?

Speaking of the Olympics, I'd like to say that I wish CBC and CTV were available in the Southwestern US so that I could watch the extensive figure skating coverage. I've read that the ratings for figure skating have gone up a lot in Canada this past season, due in part to both the hockey strike and the fact that ABC no longer holds the contract to air figure skating (ESPN does : , so ABC can no longer steal Canadian viewers away from the CBC/CTV telecasts.
