Has anyone watched Noah's Arc, boy, oh boy! I'm straight, and I wondering whether the actors, especially Jensen Atwood is straight. If he's not, well, it's not like I would cross the same paths.
Regardless, I think it's a fabolous show.

Bringing this thread out from the depths to say:
I may be pre-judging but...this movie already makes me want to poke myself in the eye.

Hmph - I think that movie has already been done, Strange Bedfellows starring Micheal Caton and Paul 'crocodile Dundee' Hogan.
Somehow I dont think Adam Sandler will be able to bring the same sweetness to a comedy like that, as a couple of 'older gentlemen' can.

But sadly, older gentlemen just wouldn't be reaching the same demographic.
Don't get me wrong, if there is anyway to screw this film up Sandler will do it, but if it reaches one mouth breathing homophobe and changes his or her mind well right there it's value will far outweigh something like Little Nicky.

See, and I'm thinking that it sounds rife with offensive potential. Precisely because of who is in it -- I can envision lots of cheap jokes revolving around pretending to be gay. Oh well, I hope they can pull it off. Like Ang wrote, though, the "sweetness" will probably be missing. Too bad.

OK, I am going to use y'alls good attitudes and think positive on this one.
I hope there is a scene where they find out that they have to pay mucho taxes on said partnership benefits. Maybe they could get Ray Romano to play their accountant.
Must...contain...tax season...bitterness....

I envision lots of lame "straight men pretending to be gay men flirting with straight men and making them uncomfortable" jokes, a la "Three's Company." Don't get me wrong, "Three's Comapny" was pretty cool, but that was what, 1981? The whole concept sounds really dated to me.

I don't think I've ever seen it in its entirety, but apparently Big Daddy had a gay subplot handled with ease (i.e. no homophobia, total coolness, etc). It was GLAAD- approved and everything! But we're dealing with different writers and whatnot, so I could see how it could go horribly awry. Especially since I hate Adam Sandler as an actor with a burning passion. And Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor wrote the script. Like, they're generally thought of as good writers, right? And the concept hopefully puts it in funny "Election" mode instead of depressing "Sideways" (which everyone on the boards hates but me) mode! Now if the director will fight the urge to make it 20-minutes too long ala Wedding Crashers, it could be fine. Yes, I know it seems really, really offensive and lame in concept, but the writing team and past history gives me some degree of hope.

That GLAAD link is basically what the subplot is about. Adam Sandler's two best friends in college met and fell in love, and Adam's character's reaction is, simply, I'm happy for them because they're happy. No big deal.
Quelle refreshing and shocking in what might be his most grown up film.... using the term "grown up" very loosely.
I'll keep high hopes on this comedy film. Payne and Taylor do know how to write actual characters and not caricatures. (And I also loved "Sideways"). Looks like we Gays might be back In in Hollywood.

I though I vaguely remembered it but was distracted by the whole bad parenting bordering on child abuse premise of Big Daddy.
