He came out several years ago, IIRC. According to Wikimapedia, .
It looks like he hasn't worked for a few years. I was more surprised to find out he was American, as my first impression of him was from Thorn Birds.

Richard Chamberlain is American? No way! That's a million times more surprising to me than him being gay ever was.

Richard Chamberlain was gay? Who knew (I didn't.) That's something I'm pretty sure I knew- but then forgot.

Wasn't Richard Chamberlain a guest star on Leverage a couple years ago? I think that was the last time I saw him in anything. More power to him.

He played King Arthur in the Broadway touring production of Spamalot! a few years ago, and was absolutely delightful. My favorite part of his performance was during the title number, when he faked a tap dance routine as his loyal servant Patsy banged the two halves of coconut together. Good times...

Playing Parker's surrogate father and jewel thief mentor. The most I've ever seen of him is as the uncle's love interest in the final season of Brothers and Sisters a few years ago, so to me, Richard Chamberlain is synonymous with "old gay guy."
